Sure, but it's worse if there's bugs (there always will be) and there isn't one available.

You will likely have to do it even if you buy a Mac in store. Do you expect them to rip all their macs out of their boxes and update them every time there is a . release? ?

It's a worse user experience to not ship an update with bugfixes as soon as possible.

If that timing is inconvenient such that the new machine needs an update out of the box, so be it. Besides, new computers will almost always need an update out of the box, today's software update cycles happen faster than the amount of time systems sit in inventory.

Wait till 12.5 when all the major features that Apple promised are included and bugs squashed. You'll thank me later.

For a brief moment I had hope that this was a last minute inclusion of Universal control ..

I've had a few Kernel Panics, too. And now I keep getting this prompt, and none of my external drives will connect:

8299F440-6077-4EF9-A58C-7698A27C6548.jpeg

Also, my BlueTooth Apple Keyboard and Magic Trackpad don’t seem to reconnect and since USB Accessories are disabled, I can’t plug either of them in so that they’d be recognized again. I’ve even unplugged everything accept the monitor and Ethernet from my Dock. No change. It’s rendered clamshell mode useless for me right now. Ridiculous.

Have you ever bought a windows laptop? I had to provision a Lenovo P15 recently and it took 2 hours and about 5 reboots to install all the windows upgrades and crap and that was a new machine.

Which is ideal, because the term "Golden Master" would be way too offensive to use in 2021 ?
And the rest of the tech world never even called it that, Gold Master is the term. Apple started this 'golden' nonsense that is more like kindergarten talk.
This experience belongs to the past, before 2015.
Maybe with Apple but look at the gaming scene. The term 0day patch is dated way back, ever since consoles are online. Just image if a cartridge needed a patch back then, it would had bankrupt a smaller dev for sure.

Blame it on marketing, deadlines are more important than a quality product since 'we can always fix it later'. On the other hand of course, there is no finished product from a programmer's point of view.

Basically, no one involved can walk away with their hands clean. We share the blame for what we have today.

Weird. It showed up for me to download and when I went back later to install it, it disappeared. Rebooted machine, showed up again, started download, disappeared and cant get it to refresh for download. UGHHH

Still no full installer for RC2. There wasn't one for RC1 either. The beta 10 full installer is still available though.

There probably won't be a new full installer till public release.

There have been full ipsw's for RC1 and RC2 however. They are not as useful as full installers though.

I've just noticed that I can't move files or delete any items in iCloud based folders. Last night I dragged two items from my desktop to the trash and saw the "Preparing to move to Trash" dialog box come up, and then just walked away from my MBP for the night. This morning I still have the same "Preparing to move to Trash" dialog box on my screen. I reboot and am still seeing the "Preparing to move to Trash" dialog box and nothing actually moving to the trash. I've also tried dragging those Desktop items to my Downloads folder, and then see the "Preparing to move to Downloads" dialog box there and nothing gets moved.. I've tried a repair disk, but I'd really like an updated 12.0.1 installer to try reinstalling over itself. I'm not sure I'm confident in the built in repair partition.

:::EDIT:::
I believe I resolved this. I booted into recovery options and then went to Utilities/Terminal and ran 'repairHomePermissions', which launches the Repair Home app. You can select your account from there and after entering your PW it runs a quick repair. At this point, I'd prefer to Reinstall macOS, but my initial worry above is confirmed by a message saying I'm unable to downgrade my 'Macintosh HD' Drive. Meaning the Recovery Partition is probably still on macOS 12, while I'm currently on the updated macOS 12.0.1 21A559 build.

BUT, again, I think repairing permissions on my home folder fixed a bunch of issues for me.

I'll be happy if I don't have to see 2 to 10 of these every time I wake my MBPro connected to a 5K Ultrafine from sleep. Even happier if every time the Mac wakes from sleep in the morning, it hasn't completely crashed and restarted overnight.

With every release (of many MacOS versions), I'm disappointed that they can't build Mail so that (a) the columns don't resize themselves every time you change the view (e.g., from Inbox to Send and back), and (b) so that text colors in the lists don't stick. I have rules to color-code emails per account in my unified inbox, and they revert to black all the time, no matter what. Have reported both several times.
