The journal app is very basic at this point. It has a long way to go before I use it in lieu of DayOne. Deep integration into iOS will probably win me over eventually. I’ve long thought the iPhone should have an activity log, since we do so much in our phones these days, it can give us fine grained detail of our daily activity. I could use that to see where I need to improve my habits or even productivity. It’s all there, scattered across screen time, health, fitness, etc.
If anything, maybe it'd be a gateway for people to first get used to journaling, then move up to something like DayOne when they want more.

Apple today seeded the second betas of upcoming iOS 17.2 and iPadOS 17.2 updates to public beta testers, allowing non-developers to try out the software ahead of its release. The second iOS 17.2 and iPadOS 17.2 public betas come two weeks after Apple released the first public betas.

Public beta testers can get the beta by opening up the Settings app, going to the Software Update section, tapping on the "Beta Updates" option, and toggling on the ‌iOS 17 or iPadOS 17‌ Public Beta. Signing up on Apple's beta testing website is required.

iOS 17.2 adds the Journal app, designed to let iPhone and iPad users record their daily activities and thoughts. Apple offers prompts that can be used as inspiration, and journal entries can be outfitted with images, voice recordings, location tags, and more.

Collaborative playlists are now available in Apple Music so you can create playlists that multiple people contribute to, and there's also now a Favorites playlist that has all the music you've favorited. Stickers can be used as tapback reactions in the Messages app, the Action Button on the iPhone 15 Pro models can now be set to a new Translate function, and Apple has implemented support for iMessage Contact Key Verification.

There are new Weather and Clock widgets, tweaks to the TV app, updates to Message syncing across devices, new Memoji options, and more, with the full list of features we've found so far available in our iOS 17.2 beta features article.

Burn-in issue is back on my 15PM after 17.2. Reverting to 17.1.1 has fixed the issue
Hold on how can a burn in be fixed by a sw update, or is born in being used a bitt different? for the record I though burn in ws when you se a permanent ghost immage of stationary immage elements (like dogs on tv channels or gui elements that never move

Journal app is iPhone only - don’t know if it will come to iPad at a later date or not, but seems daft for it not to. Then again iPad still doesn’t have a native calculator app, so who knows…
I do most journaling on Mac, with a real keyboard, and some on iPad. Hardly nothing on iPhone. So Day One has no opposition from Apple at all at this point.
But if Apple evolve it, to iPad and Mac and it becomes so good, that it can compete with DayOne I wouldn’t mind skipping my subscription fee. See in a few years…

I'll say it again. A journal app on iOS doesn't make sense. Journaling requires a fair bit of typing and phones are the hardest thing to type on (compared to MacOS). Maybe because there are more people with phones they wanted to release it on phone? I just don't get it.
Have you seen Apple's revenue breakdown? They are the iPhone and services company now. I totally agree with you, but the number of people who only have a phone now and eschew computers is mind-blowing. I can't stand to write more than about a sentence on my phone.

That was meant to be fixed with iOS 17.1.1, it’s in the notes about the OS…

There’s even a certain news article that can be shared about it from a site most of us would generally be intimately familiar wkth… 😂👍🏻

right, but my question was whether or not the latest beta included the fix as well.

Hello all,
It seems I encounter more and more issues with CarPlay (and a Audi A4).
Am I alone?

The iPad 7th gen AppleMusic App has been freezing i.e. not loading playlists/auto pauses since 17.1 , anyone else having these issues - any idea if this beta has a fix ?
