Battery life in all 6 betas has been completely ***** for me, during sleep mode. Was draining 10-15% overnight in every beta up to 6. Had 3-4% loss overnight on High Sierra before I put the Mojave beta on this machine (MBP 2013). Seems to drain pretty rapidly during active usage as well. I'm just surprised there seems to be no efficient power management in any of these betas so far (have not installed 7 yet). Usually in betas sometimes there's great power management, sometimes bad, and it varies beta to beta. But it's been totally crap for me since beta 1.

Anyone experience the same?

I've been using every public beta since the start except the 5th beta (I just couldn't be bothered) on my late 2013 rMBP and it's been solid. And fast. And I love Dark Mode.

YMMV, but issues other people have been having like wifi calling, hotspots, and printing have all worked fine for me.

Yeah, Continuity seems buggy (has it ever not been?). I had an old beta (dev beta 2, I believe) on a secondary partition, and Watch Unlock, Handoff, and Universal Clipboard didn't work. So I formatted, installed this beta 7, and… nope, all three still broken. It doesn't seem to see the Watch:

Code:
default 23:02:51.170980 +0200 sharingd Client bundle ID: com.apple.preference.security.remoteservice
default 23:02:51.172070 +0200 sharingd Clearing Auto Unlock device cache
default 23:02:51.172996 +0200 sharingd Devices (
)
default 23:02:51.177095 +0200 sharingd "The connection to ACDAccountStore was invalidated."
default 23:02:51.177171 +0200 sharingd No eligible devices (signed in: YES, last watch seen: (null))
default 23:02:51.177283 +0200 sharingd Devices with description {(
)}
default 23:02:51.177419 +0200 sharingd Ranging supported: YES for model: MacBookPro11,2
default 23:02:51.177990 +0200 sharingd Repair cloud pairing if necessary

But it also doesn't do Handoff or Universal Clipboard with the iPhone, even though AirDrop seems to work fine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Toggling Handoff gave this interesting bit:

Code:
2018-08-13 23:13:23.093315+0200 0x3694 Info 0x0 891 0 sharingd: [com.apple.sharing:Handoff] Failed to find any valid cloud paired devices

This could be relevant to those who say signing out and back in helps. That said, I tried that, and other than making the CPU go crazy for a while and the GUI getting stuck, it didn't seem to do anything.

(edit)

Signing out of iCloud, then out of my Mac account, then back in, then back into iCloud, made the above logs go far crazier, and fixed it. Clearly, there's (still! this stuff is four years old now!) a weird state where the Mac and iCloud don't agree on "valid paired devices", and signing back in forces a cache flush:

Code:
2018-08-13 23:22:07.336919+0200 0x10d9a Default 0x3b311 1916 0 sharingd: [com.apple.sharing:AutoUnlock] New local LTK, clearing remote LTKs and disabling Auto Unlock for all keys

A bit sad.

Also, while Handoff and Watch Unlock now work, Universal Clipboard still does not.
[doublepost=1534196135][/doublepost]I also played with the Home app.

Leaving aside how much it feels like an iOS port (I… hope this improves?), it does show my accessories, but just says "this accessory is not responding". That's odd, cause my Watch and iPhone can both interact with it just fine.

Interested to know whether there's still the 'Cube' animation for switching user accounts?

Also, is there much of a change to the photos app, most especially face tagging?

Nice.
Here's a question for you from the Mac Pro subforum

Just that they need to be updated to high sierra before updating to mojave so far - and that they may not be able to log in to facetime and imessage.

Is the Console application still crippled?
Can't see log messages generated before Console is opened.
Long messages are truncated instead wrapping to the window width.
Search field missing the X button to clear searches, unlike every other search field in Mac OS.

How many versions do you guys think we’re away from a gold master? I’m jonesing to install Mojave and am ok with sporadic bugs given that it’s a beta. Just hoping to avoid catastrophic failures. Has Mojave been getting more stable or is it up and down?

About a month away from release, they should be nailing it down by now, just refining the rough edges, no?

Only if you upgrade to Windows 10.
"upgrade to Windows 10" :D:D

First we heard "wait for Thunderbolt 2".
Then we heard "wait for Thunderbolt 3".
Then we heard "wait for eGPU".

And still no MST support?

Clearly Mac OS supports MST for a single 4K monitor, as explained in Apple's KB articles. What could possibly be the reason for still not supporting MST for daisy chaining lower resolution monitors together? Is this an attempt to force people to buy Thunderbolt monitors?

Not really. Expect a number of betas yet, probably get quicker the closer the release date.

Well to be honest as it comes to polishing things left and right in the GUI - there's not that much left to do.

I am actually more excited about the apps that will allow native dark mode on the OS overall.

I am using it daily and it doesn't feel any different than High Sierra - the only thing I feel different about it is the dark mode which is constantly enabled.
I thought I will not like it but it seems to be growing on me and I am looking forward to the final release mainly because of that.

It's nothing special or fantastic, as it comes to general usability, just small tweak of the interface, on your daily work on it - you won't even notice if you come from High Sierra.

The only problem I had with these betas is that the Mac runs a bit hotter.

I would expect by the end of September or beginning of October to have the official release - GM being somewhere at the end of September. But these are just speculations.

I have a 2017 13" Macbook, 2 USB-C ports. Last night, I was able to assemble the correct cable to enable Display Port on my Acer XR341CK. The cable I used on my 2015 iMac coupled with a USB-C connector wouldn't work. You have to eliminate the older Thunderbolt 2 connector from the mix - a Display Port/Thunderbolt 2 cable to USB-C adaptor doesn't cut the mustard for some reason - The 2017 requires a full-sized Display Port/Display Port cable connected directly to a USB-C adaptor. Yay me, I'm now back to driving the display at 75 hz as I'd driven my iMac.

Anyway, later on that evening when the public beta became available, I downloaded it and installed it. I noticed night shift wasn't working. I needed the HDMI cable I was using on the TV in the bedroom and didn't feel like putting it back on the Macbook to test it. Is it simply not functioning in this release or is this an effect of using Display Port over HDMI?

Im on Mojave since the first Dev Beta Without any bigger issues. Try it.

I’m wondering how it runs on a Fusion Drive on APFS. Some users have reported that it doesn’t read the SSD portion of their drive so they run out of space with supposedly 100gb left. That’s the issue that tanked Fusion Drive APFS on High Sierra. Have they implemented this support in the beta?

Dropbox does not work with this release (at least for me). Even tried the latest Dropbox beta. Stucks at "Dropbox starting..."

I have yet to be able to successfully install Mojave’s dev betas (tried betas 3 - 6) on my 2018 MBPro. I get is failed install message or crash at the end of the install. After that, I can usually boot into safe mode where the OS moves at a slow pace (understood from years experience that’s normal for safe mode). In safe ode I can’t connect to the internet as the OS reports no WiFi hardware installed.

I may try again but on a partition but after 4 betas requiring disabling sip in some cases that required a full format of the HD or at the very least a restore from Time Machine, I may wait for GM / retail release. I’ve read that it’s possible my problem is related to the T2 Chip but I wouldn’t rule out Somme old junk like an extension (.kext) that’s outdated or not even uthough used but I moved all of those to an “old.extensions” folder via terminal - who knows. I’m just psyched to have this new machine after not upgrading for the longest I’ve gone between Macs (waiting for  to figure out their notebook roadmap that included coffee lake or a version of i7 or i9 that supported more ram - and couldn’t wait for the new chips that will support DDR5). The new MBP is great after fixing the throttling issue but Mojave beta for me crashes at login - the furthest I made it.
