RC next week. New hardware releases the week after and final release of 14.5
They are quite behind this year. Every spring event has been mid-late march.

I am hoping you're wrong and we get a final release next week. Im ready for a handful of things to be fixed (hopefully) because iOS 14 has been the crummiest release in a long time as far as all the silly bugs. And it would be nice to have mask unlock. But whats an extra week when its been an annoyance for over a year.

Developers need to test RC the size of todays release is small so I am guessing this is a pre RC release

Smacks of Apple dragging their feet, for some reason. Perhaps a product update, that's revealed/supported in iOS 14.5, *still* isn't ready, yet? Meanwhile, we continue to wait for ATT. There are a couple of financial apps that I'm interested in trying out, but I decided I didn't want to install them until 14.5. Come on Apple, we know you can do it!

If you're willing to put up with beta quality why don't you just opt in to the public betas?
What makes you think that I'm willing to put up with beta quality? There's nothing in my post indicating that I'm willing to accept it. I simply said people are going to complain anyway, releasing it now, would at least get rid of the people asking when it's going to be released. The last sentence in my post clearly says that "I don't care when it gets released," implying that I'm not complaining about the lack of a release.

I'm not familiar with the phrase "app grid UI" ... do you mean, not using the "App Library" and/or "Widgets"? then the answer is "yes", you can choose to not use that feature and the app layout will be essentially unchanged
Than you. Yes, that’s what I was asking.

I get some of you are arguing that people should not be complaining that 14.5 is not out yet for all these new features, but keep in mind a lot of us may be people suffering from actual bugs and issues we just want fixed. In the time this is taking it would be nice if Apple could just fix some of these bugs already and release the extra features later. I'm needing to use Sidecar because of the situation I'm in but every day my Mac acts like its never been used before and I have to open up the System Preferences and set it up from scratch. Thats juts one of many minor issues wasting time out of each of my days.

If they're going to announce new hardware, this will be before they release RC because RC will have the release notes that will most likely mention the new hardware such as "Support for AirPods (Gen. 3)", and it will include all the perks needed for the new hardware which can be discovered by developers so that hardware will be leaked. I am pretty confident that beta 7 is the last beta but I am curious if they will release RC alongside with new hardware via press release like they did with AirPods Max in last December or if they will just go with the public release. However, based on the fact that they now release RC for each iOS 14 API release, we will see RC next week.

If the only hardware that will be announced are iMacs and iPads, I guess they can release RC before hardware announcement as they don't need to add support for them, they have their separate software builds (IPSWs) that can be released later. Only AirTags or AirPods will need software update.

Why do these articles always start with what is new in 14.5 instead of what is new in this latest beta?
Apple provides little to no information about what's new in a given beta, so there's no way to report on that in an article which announces a new beta.

I agree soooooo much, it's annoying always having to read something we already know.

Apple provides little to no information about what's new in a given beta, so there's no way to report on that in an article which announces a new beta.

In that case, keep it simple and short. Two lines are enough. No need to bring back all the infos again and again.
