Can you point to the timestamp where they said they redesigned all of the apps?

Do you really not know the difference between OS interface design elements and actual app design?

You are complaining about something that is just simply not advertised.

He’s heavily implying that the redesign has the same weight as iOS 7 had and if you’re old enough to remember what iOS was before 7, then you will know that with 7 came a complete overhaul of all apps. He didn’t say “we will redesign all stock apps for this fat cat with iOS 26 like we did in iOS 7” word for word, but he did imply that that’s the change we can expect. And frankly should expect, iOS still looks more or less like it did in 2013, a bit stale and still so flat.

Does the "one new unifying user interface across all Apple devices" still look wildly inconsistent in its application? Seems like they're A/B testing how "Liquid Glass" looks from one app to another.
This is the first thing that I checked on my iPad.

Text sliding up/under the navigation at the top of the screen is still different when comparing iMessage, Safari, and Mail. It’s less distracting in iMessage and Safari than in Mail, which is very busy up top.

He implied nothing, and plainly said once per decade major OS redesign. You are confused and misinterpreting what he said. The major change to all the stock apps is some design changes but mostly the integration of Apple Intelligence. Like I said, Apple provided an app to lodge your complaints.

If all the buids released today are ending with an "a" does it mean we could have the RCs text Monday?
Wouldn't it be too early? We were expecting the RCs in a coupe of weeks.

Am I speaking to Apple tech support here or something? Are you working for Apple? He started he’s overbloated speech with how much iOS 7 has changed, how “here we go again” and how it only happens once a decade, and you see THIS and defend it with all you can? Seriously? This is what it takes decade to ship? So that’s all we get after 12 years, and you’re happy with that. Federighi gets you warmed up with how they’re about to have the iOS 7 moment again, you get a new lockscreen font and animation and transparent icons and you’re happy. Why are you even testing the beta in the first place.

My point is, buddy, that now we have some aspects looking fresh and most aspects looking dated. It’s inconsistent, it’s a mess, and it’s definitely not a major redesign. 2013 release was a major redesign, this is not.

I agree that it’s inconsistent. And side by side with iPadOS 18, it’s very similar, although with a very white look. (It reminds me of a very white skin that I used somewhere, and after a day, I returned to something with more contrast.)

Right now, my wife is traveling in the USA with her iPhone 12 with a cracked screen. I’m going to have her buy an iPhone 16 to lock in iOS 18. Yeah, I hate 26 that much.

Is that a problem in a weekly release?
Well this is Tue and the build completed early Friday morning EDT so it's maybe had two days of test time. But the graphical artefacts are still noticeable in Finder and Terminal so I am thinking they haven't figured out the RCA for that yet.

Oops, ignore this as it's not the Tahoe story. Sorry for the confusion.

Another option would be no glass to all glass adjustable on a slider for all elements subjected to this unbelievibly ill thought out and poorly implemented change in the user interface which has no functional purpose except for apple vision.

This "slider" idea has been perpetuated for weeks now.

You know as well as I do that Apple ain't gonna do it.

It’s feeling very fast and smooth to me now. Speech to text seems faster, better, more accurate?
Thankfully, the watch had an update too… That was pretty screwy until today.

Everything you're complaining about and accusing Apple of is purely opinion and subjective to you, and probably to some others. I don't feel the same as you, and many more do not feel the same as you. I have been using iPads since the first iPad, iPhones since iPhone 4, iPods and iPod Touches since og iPod, and Macs since 1993. I have had my complaints, but have also been using my iPad Pro in place of a MBP since Nov. 2021 for all mobile work in my Real Estate and Property Management business. This has been imo the best, most useful, and forward looking update Apple has given the OS.

I am finding all the new features and tools so useful. I love the new windowing, especially when using an external monitor, keyboard, and magic trackpad. The only thing more I'd like for the external monitor support is the ability to set the external monitor as the default.

I find all the new features in the Files App very useful. I mean, I liked the previous version of Files App, but in my view it is even closer to Finder/Explorer than ever.

I really like the Camera and Pictures apps. I use the camera a lot for both personal and business, and really digging the new layout/ux.

I am very happy they added the Menu Bar and stoplight buttons. I like having all the menu features of an app available in the app.

I like the new windowing. Very flexible so you can do just about anything you want. I also like the preciseness of the new pointer when I'm using a trackpad.

I truly like iPad OS a lot. I have been just getting it and enjoying it for a long time now. Of course I have had my wishes along the way, but could always see the potential for the iPad. I don't miss my 2019 MBP that I replaced with my iPad Pro. In fact, I have just never looked back. I understand that some people either just don't get the iPad, want it to always just remain a consumption device, or just plain can't use it for all they need to. But, what some people need to understand is.....that there are many of us that do or can. It is my opinion that the iPad is the most flexible device that Apple has ever made. There are some important things that can be done with an iPad that a MacBook just can't do for me. On the other hand, my iPad covers all my needs for mobile computing.

Does anyone know of this build addresses the issue of no audio when connected to Bluetooth in a car? This has been an issue since developer beta 2.

For anyone asking, I did submit feedback and the resolution is "potential fix identified, for a future OS update." given this is an a build I hope it's been addressed or gets addressed before public release.

What do you mean, not full screen?
When you take a screenshot, it no longer appears as a thumbnail in the bottom left corner, but in full screen with various options. I saw videos on YouTube. To get the full screen, I have to click on the thumbnail.`

Identical issue on an iPhone 13 (public beta 4).
On an iPhone 12 Pro Max (public beta 4), the option works normally.

I just found the solution!
The problem appears when the Back Tap mode (in Accessibility) is enabled for a Screenshot (double tap or triple tap).
The option (depending on user setting) behaves normally if Touch back of device for screenshot is disabled.

You’re talking about iPadOS, I’m talking about iOS. You replaced a Macbook with a tablet and a keyboard and you want it to be a laptop, and 26 got you closer to that, so I understand you’re happy with what you’re getting (even though the iPad will never really be Macbook). If you take the iPhone, iOS 26 really isn’t that much different from iOS 18. It’s a facelift, not a major redesign. They said it’s a major redesign, you’re saying companies never do major redesign, I later tell you they did in 2013, later you hate to admit I’m right so you paraphrase and you know what, please be happy with what you’re getting if it meets your expectations. You totally deserve it.

What does the battery drain look like?
I would like to install beta on the main device but I'm afraid to install
In my experience with running the betas on my daily 15PM since Dev Beta 2 is that I've had better battery life than I was getting with the latest iOS 18 release, they've been completely smooth on all my devices and haven't noticed a battery hit.
