Same here but worse. When the adapter is connected the Mac freezes every 5-10 secondsAfter updating, the external monitor(using USB-C Digital AV Multiport adaptor) cannot be connected.

after all, I solved this issue by restoring the CCC backup to 12.3.1 ?

Yes, there are a lot of us that don't care for Time Machine. Just a periodical snap shot using a backup utility as a fallback as you increment beta versions is more than adequate. Also have a second snapshot of last RC before that if something goes weird. Its a lot faster when scanning changes then keeping backups of the same files are many timepoints until your volume is full then you have to delete the oldest ones. Thats inefficient.I had this problem with a USB-C to HDMI adapter setup. What's CCC?
Oh Carbon Copy Cloner? :-(

According to my observation, the closer they get to the final version, the closer the last letter is to the a. So I think the last letter reflects how close the test is to completion. It's my understanding that the last letter, in this case e, would be the 5th build of the day? There's been times where the build number talk has gone on for far too long, though ?

How to Decode Apple Version and Build Numbers - TidBITS
You undoubtedly know about Apple’s version numbering scheme for its operating systems—iOS 13.5.1 and macOS 10.15.5, for instance. But did you know Apple also has a hidden build numbering scheme that can be even more useful? Former Apple engineer David Shayer explains how to decode build numbers...tidbits.com
Also, if I am correct that a daily build ending in e means it is the 5th build of the day, that would imply that the team had to submit 5 builds? People always worry about a build with a higher letter, but that could also just mean one or maybe more issues were being found and corrected at each incremental build.
Which is good. Finding and fixing bugs = good
Pushing out another 'a or b build' could imply things are being missed. I guess it's all about perspective.
