Apple today seeded the third beta of an upcoming tvOS 15.5 update to developers for testing purposes, with the software coming one week after the release of the second beta.

Developers can download the new tvOS 15.5 beta by downloading a profile onto the ‌Apple TV‌ using Xcode.

tvOS updates are typically minor in scale, focusing primarily on under-the-hood bug fixes and improvements rather than major outward-facing changes.

Though we don't often know what's new in tvOS during the beta testing process, we let MacRumors readers know when new updates are available so those who are developers can download it upon release.

As of now, we have not found new features in tvOS 15.5 and there's no word on what might be in the update beyond bug fixes and under-the-hood performance improvements.

One improvement I never noticed with the current tvOS betas that I missed when it implemented was the auto switching from Dolby Vision to HDR feature.

It doesn't work if you set the custom video to 4K DV@24Hz/30Hz/60Hz and then try to watch YouTube video in HDR, it will not change to HDR10.

But if you set your Apple TV to custom 4K HDR@60Hz, then YouTube will work as it should playing 4K HDR videos, also observe various DV content in Netflix and Disney apps changing to reflect they are playing Dolby Vision content automatically.

Strange it doesn't work both ways.

Reporting for duty.... :)

So, um, does it fix the library tab for large libraries?
Use iTunes TV/Movies, which you are afraid will disappear. I don't get the unnecessary desire for the Apple TV app to be used anymore, just a attempt by Apple to sell its virtues with not all functions working.
5 weeks more and you will know what happens next.
