Worst update ever. Everything takes forever to load, even the AppleTV app. I've been on betas for as long as I can remember, never have I experienced anything so unstable. In several apps I can't start a video stream and in others it loads so slowly I'm about to give up. If it succeeded, then it's questionable quality (lousy)
It's just for info for others who feel tempted to update, don't.
Which Apple TV do you have? I have a 2017 Apple TV 4K....No problems at all with Paramount plus, Amazon Prime, Music, Barstool, Lillyplayer, etc. If anything, it's a bit quicker---but not slower.

4k 2nd gen.

TV app is slow and it takes ages to load posters. HBO MAX, the video quality is terrible. Youtube works like on beta2. I'm from Denmark, so have a few apps that you can't test but from which I can't play content. Disney+ works as it should, but slower than beta2

Then there is another thing ... I was about to panic because I discovered a dead pixel 4cm from the top and 4cm from the side on the right side of the screen when I play content in the TV+ app and HBO. But that pixel is only "dead" on the Apple TV. Not on other players. So I suspect that there is also something wrong here 😊

I wonder if resetting it would be the next (best) option? Usually these Betas come out in 3 week intervals----I'm an impatient person so you know what I would do--LOL

Same here... Worth a try. Otherwise I have to switch to a gen1 (beta2 was quite good)

It's just a warning to others. iOS is ok, macOS is ok, watchOS is just as bad as tvOS on Watch Ultra

You can't update to HomePod beta 17. As far as I know, no beta has been released at all.

Apple today seeded the third beta of an upcoming tvOS 17 beta to developers for testing purposes, with the update coming two weeks after Apple introduced the second beta.

Registered developers are able to download the tvOS 17 update by opting in to the beta through the Settings app on the Apple TV. A registered developer account is required.

tvOS updates don't typically garner as much attention as updates to iOS and macOS, and are never as feature rich, but tvOS 17 brings FaceTime to the TV for the first time. The Apple TV 4K can connect to an iPhone or iPad that serves as the camera, with the FaceTime interface showing up on the TV's screen.

All of the FaceTime features are available, including Center Stage to keep you front and center, plus there are new gesture-based reactions that let you use your hands to generate on-screen effects. For example, if you make a heart with your hands, the screen will display hearts.

Split View for Apple TV lets users watch television with friends and family using SharePlay, and there are controls for transferring calls between the TV and an iPhone or iPad as needed. Third-party apps like Zoom will also be able to take advantage of this functionality, so those apps will also work on the TV screen.

Control Center on Apple TV has been revamped and it is easier for users to access key settings and information, plus there is a new feature that allows the iPhone to locate a Siri Remote that's been misplaced.

tvOS also features a range of new aerial screen savers, adds support for third-party VPN apps, introduces Dolby Vision 8.1 on compatible devices, and more. Details can be found in our Apple TV roundup.

Some apps no longer work in beta 3

JW Broadcasting no longer works with remote in beta 3

Is anyone having any issues with Spotify on the new Beta 3?

I've got 3rd gen 4k box and updated to Beta 3, but now Spotify won't play anything
It loads and shows the songs/albums - but selecting anything doesn't do anything - nothing starts to play.

I can use Spotify on my phone and select songs that then play fine on the Apple TV - but it won't select anything on the Apple TV itself - the song icons pop in as though they're being selected, but nothing happens.

I have to ask....when will VPNs be available for Apple TV or that won't happen until the final release? Right now I have all Roku Max 4K streaming sticks but (recently) bought a used Apple 4K (2017) and everything works SO much better on Apple TV. Excited to put Apple TV in our other rooms.
FlowVPN has a beta available in TestFlight, it's works fine for me. So, it seems that there are not restriction from apple, but I have only tested a few apps. They have a 3 days free trial that I'm using for testing.

I think it's the only available VPN client for apple TV at the moment, still awaiting for the one from NordVPN

How do you use test flight? And how do you redeem the code?

You need to install TestFlight in the ATV and in other device (I used my Mac) to join the beta. Use TestFlight in the secondary device (Mac) to redeem the code, then the app should appear in your ATV TestFlight, where you can proceed with the installation.

Just do a google search for "FlowVPN TestFlight" and you'll find links to join the beta. You of course need a FlowVPN account to able to use the vpn.

It's a bit convoluted but I hope it helps.

Flow vpn works well so far, but it does crash the settings app when connected. I’ve sent them an email. Also it does seem to stay connected to vpn even if Apple TV is in sleep mode (or it reconnects when waking!) either way works a charm for me as my dns service didn’t allow paramount+ in UK along with another similar Channel group set to UK!

Has anyone been able to access the feature to find the Apple TV remote through the iPhone app yet or has this not been activated yet?

Has anyone noticed a notable improvement in DolbyVision image quality? As it says it now supports DolbyVision 8 (vs 5 from the previous OS).

How do you like the Hunter Fans? Do they have lights ive been eyeballing them for some time now.
Absolutely happy with 3 of my 5. What I didn't realize when I ordered them are there are two versions - different software level stuff that can't be upgraded. The new ones are fantastic. The old ones are just older software and have some weird bugs about reconnecting after blackouts.
