The replacement apps for iTunes are terrible and need to be addressed ASAP. They feel like early alpha versions.

I've had to use Time Machine backups, the dosdude1 tools, and multiple versions of macOS to upgrade my iTunes library properly upon moving from a 2010 iMac to a 2017 iMac. I've had to dig into folders and manually move various items. It's been a complete nightmare fixing Podcasts, Books and Audiobooks and I've lost some metadata along the way.

Only way to be a really happy Apple customer these days is to be VERY RICH.

This OS is giving me headaches....
Clion gets often beachball, Battery consumption is quite high and I get sometimes stupid glitches on the GPU/Monitor....

I am too lazy to roll back but I will consider it.
I don't get Apple, why did they rush?... I could have waited another half year or at least until they put the new MBPs out.

My system is a core i7 MBP 15 2018... it's not that it's bad but I don't feel it's reliable... always on the edge..

After iOS 13, i think i will wait another 4-6 months before considering this thing...

sorry to hear the troubles.

I took the clean-install route and reconfigured all my applications from scratch (3 different machines so this took a solid week of just *updating* to Catalina) ... I lucked-out this way as I missed the music/podcast/tv debacle as well as the apple mail foobar ...

all in all, Catalina is OK ... I have a couple apps that haven't made the 64bit transition yet but they weren't mission critical. apple music/podcast (one or both of them) are definitely memory leaking ..

heavy VM user of parallels, fusion and vbox ... they all work well

I'm starting to use reminders as my daily go-to organization app and LOVE It

I'm starting to use Notes to migration all my OneNote knowledge database ... Notes is limited in importing so this will be a WIP for several months.

using apple mail vs. outlook ... a couple bugs (occasional pop-up) but it also fixed 1 issue I've had in outlook in connecting w/my clients.

one of the biggest *features* is the ROFS for the OS (software implementation of SOC) ... ensuring OS integrity will aid big-time in problem resolution as we eliminate end-user or 3rd party application interference to the core OS ... kudos to apple's DESIGN people

Hopefully the next update will fix the issue with the Photos app not importing images and also the battery drain issue ever since updating to catalina

What? They work and look fine. Very pleased with results

iOS 13 is so buggy, I make skip Catalina altogether.
Definitely I don't agree with you. Maybe you have some specifics to share?

it works great on my MBP2014. One thing you might consider, I was getting weird battery drains, seemed like something was always running, the machine was kind hot, when I didn't think it should be. Rana super-clean install when I went to a Catalina beta, moved all my data to USB, reformatted hard drive, installed Catalina from scratch. Problems solved. No extra thermal load, no short battery life. Some trivia hobbits sneak something onto my machine? I'll never know

I've learnt how to get bugs fixed. The trick is not to report them.

I've got a few Feedbacks open, with no resolution, and the only issue I had that got fixed was one I didn't log. Clicking on the tab-bar in Firefox. That appeared in the previous beta and is now fixed.

I got so excited when I was quickly reading this article and thought I read "Nvidia eGPU" when it in fact it read "Navi RDNA eGPU". One day it'll happen.

It won't.

You get bugs fixed by signing up with a Developer account and creating a case that is reproducible.

Not sure my library will ever be the same again after this update. I have 82G of stuff in Apple Music folder that isn't recognised by the music app.Despite dragging it over and using the add to library its not seen. If I download it again it appears fine in the music app but I end up with duplicates all over the place. Still tons of artwork missing and for these 2 apps are worse then the old iTunes app but only my opinion.

I use a media server for iTunes content at home (have been buying from Apple for over ten years) and, sadly, I had to move my library of hundreds of movies and TV shows over from the Mac to a Windows machine running iTunes. It just works better as a distribution point.

E.g. instead of leaving 100GB of Audible audiobooks on the USB drive and reading them from there, the Books app decided to move them to my hard drive, putting each book deep in the directory structure, each book file getting put in its own nonsense directory name - and no way to point to the USB drive.

Poor, poor design.

No, Photoshop issues need te be resolved by Adobe. They’ve had over 10 years to adapt their software to 64-bit architecture, them lazy b*st*rds.

edit: Sorry, I read Photoshop instead of Photos app.

There was a weird graphic driver issue where within Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls. I could not go into options and change graphic resolutions (pop-up) on a late 2015 i7 iMac, compared to it working fine on a 2012 i7 retina laptop. Was reported to Apple. This latest beta 3 update fixed that.

Public is available.
Did it come up as Public Beta 2 like it did on mine (under software update area)?

I thought this was actually 3rd since they released a PB of the first Developer just several days after. I even thought last one said it was the PB 2 just like today’s did.

I believe Apple should release iOS and Os releases different times of the year, maybe first half OS 2nd half iOS just so more time can be spent on beta testing and more “appointed“ people can focus on bugs etc just my .2 cents

All good no worries. I had to call apple because ANOTHER GLITCH I had opened up the Mail app because for whatever reason catalina has issues importing photos to the photos app so I took a few photos from mail and put them into photos app that way..I tried closing the mail app and it woudlnt close so had to ask apple how to force quit it(Yeah Im new to mac :) so the guy told me there are plenty of glitches with catalina(gee really I didnt notice LOL) and that hopefully next week another update will come out and fix these things I sure hope so

The problem is that iOS/iPadOS and MacOS are now coming together (in ways), so you really can't release them separately. Reminders is a good example. upgrading iOS 13 broke reminders in MacOS. I have the feeling that we will see more of this with the new TV, Podcast & Music apps.

Honestly, I didn't even notice.

10.15.1 Beta (19B86a)
Ok. Thanks. That’s what installed.
After install I did have Network show up in sidebar of finder with a “laptop-lq75pim4” listed that wasn’t there right before. I have looked through Wifi, Bluetooth, and network settings with nothing different or any other laptop or computer. I can’t get any info except Kind: PC and Where:Network. Going to look through console later. Maybe it’s personal information management, but I have never seen it come up. It also tried to connect and then after failing asked to “connect as”. It went away when I turned off WiFi and hasn’t come back yet.

I’d probably wait until further updates are released. Not in a hurry at all to update my MacBook. However, I hope there won’t be any compatibility issues with iOS 13 devices. Sometimes Apple paired up iOS and macOS versions so an older version of one doesn't work too well well with a newer version of the other if they share the same data (like iCloud photos, reminders, notes, etc). Can be annoying.

Thank you for making up my mind about this OS. I'll wait to download until people say it's finally stable
