Apple today seeded the third beta of an upcoming macOS Catalina 10.15.5 update to developers for testing purposes, two weeks after seeding the second beta and over a month after releasing macOS Catalina 10.15.4 with Screen Time Communication Limits, iCloud Folder Sharing, and real-time Apple Music lyrics.

The new macOS Catalina beta can be downloaded from the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences after installing the proper software from the Developer Center.

macOS Catalina 10.15.5 introduces a new Battery Health Management feature for Mac notebooks, which is designed to extend the overall lifespan of a Mac's battery by reducing the rate of chemical aging.

The Battery Health Management feature analyzes the battery health of a laptop and its charging pattern, and in some cases, will preserve battery longevity and health by not charging a MacBook to its full capacity, which can reduce battery life.

When a Mac is used plugged in and the battery is largely kept full, Battery Health Management will kick in and will stop short of a full charge. The feature can be enabled and disabled in the Energy Saver section of the System Preferences app.

Looking forward to the release of 10.15.5 since everything in Catalina will be super stable by then, right? 🤔🙂
I have to use Catalina on my 16" MBP, no choice there. But I still have Mojave on my Air, and really appreciate how smooth, fast and stable it is. Using it even makes me miss iTunes, which I never thought I'd say!

So, is this going to be the version which is safe for Pros to upgrade to? Serious question.
So far I've been mostly happy with 10.15.5 Beta 2 (and now Beta 3). I still run into an occasional kernel panic every once in a while, but this has been the case with 10.14.x as well (it really has been like this since I first bought the MBP in 2018)... Although there are still some minor things happening every once in a while (like Mail suddenly displaying 65 unread messages for a folder inside the app just to immediately go to zero when clicking on the folder) but nothing that feels worse than any previous OS I've had from Apple... But that's just my situation, of course different use cases and devices might show problems I don't have as of now.
Still, for me, this certainly feels like the most polished version of 10.15 yet...

Mojave was the best..stable OS Apple ever released, it was stable even from the first beta, far better than SL has ever been.
I though...right now have few issues with Catalina, slow login after a wake up is one of them, but it could be there's some process installed by me that is slowing it down.

Hmm. What did actually happen twice in a few days for me was that Safari was responding but I couldn't enter any data (e.g. URLs) via the keyboard. Had to restart Safari. That actually is an issue for me that hinders my productivity. Well, maybe all in all all of those things are what I would call minor. But if you really depend on it to do professional work and have the device just work, maybe this unfortunately still isn't it. :( (But then to be honest, I am a big fan of Apple devices and Software reliability hasn't been why I would be recommending devices since the last couple of years. For me personally, Mojave hasn't been an exception there btw. Hardware reliability on the other hand is a totally different story, most of my old devices are used by relatives until software support ends, which most of the time was 6-10 years...)

I really hope this update resolves some of my software issues on my 16 inch macbook.
1) it shuts down when in sleep mode often
2) graphics switching glitches
3) internet connectivity issues, it's connected but the internet itself is not working properly.
4) ghosting/jittery scrolling

I'm upset since these problems arose after updating to 10.15.4 from 10.15.3.

I am not glad you experience this, but I am glad it’s not just me - that is because I started to think my MBP 2018 15’’ has issues...

You listed everything I am also facing.

After the update, my touch bar is black on the right side. I haven't had issues with crashing but MBP 2018 definitely has issues after the 10.15.4 update.

Anyone else have touch bar issues?
