Apple Seeds Third Betas of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 to Developers

I like the change...now if they would have just got the Apple Store in iPad OS to dark mode also...
DB1 ≈ 12 months in development. DB2 ~ 2 weeks.
Beta 1s are typically pretty stable, but it tends to go downhill from there on for the next few releases.
I know but Im using dark mode and those appear in light mode. I have to switch to dark icons now to be able to get those background dark.
hopefully this fixes the issue on my iPad where the Weather app keeps asking me for my location over and over and over again
I'm still confused, that is the way it has always worked (even before iOS 18). In Light Mode the boxes around the icons are lighter gray. In dark mode, they are darker gray. They still work that way in iOS 18, nothing is different.
In ios 18 beta 2, I used dark mode with light icons and I got dark background. In beta 3 Im using the same exact setup and now I got light background.
I was really hoping for the AI to come this week!
This may be a bug… I have been experiencing some bugs with the customization options for the homescreen. I use the tint feature and whatever I choose doesn’t stick - it reverts to a different layout, and I have tried multiple times
You can still do it. Set it to light mode then Go to edit. Then choose the dark icons and click the little sun to turn it light mode background.

Hahah that’s cool - however that is were I am experiencing an annoying bug where no matter what options I use it just reverts back to the standard options. This may be what is affecting him, especially since it has started since I downloaded the beta.
And Beta 3 did NOT fix the volume/sound issue either
Has anyone figured out a way to select the new dynamic wallpaper for an existing Lock Screen? My Lock Screen is set up how I want it and would rather just change the wallpaper than have to recreate it (which is the only way I'm currently seeing to use it.)
Still unable to use Continuity Camera and iPhone mirroring on Mac at the same time. I wonder if there's a technical limitation that prevents them to allow it? When they announced this feature last month, I thought that the strongest use case would be for people using Continuity Camera several times a day
Is this how it's worked historically? I've been going nuts with excitement waiting for the public betas for all these OSs to come out.Hot damn then this most likely means the first public betas will be arriving next week
You can't mirror your iPhone while mirroring your Mac on Apple Vision Pro
Unfortunately, you won't be able to use your iPhone while its mirrored to your Mac on the Vision Pro.

So that is likely why in your example of Continuity Camera and iPhone mirroring on Mac at the same time. That article was against why you couldn't do two continuity mirroring using a iPhone -> Mac -> Vision Pro. Likely a networking limitation.
That passwords service better have a “notes” field for all the stuff I keep in my password app that ain’t a login! 🤨
Apple today seeded the third betas of upcoming iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 updates to developers for testing purposes, with the software coming two weeks after the release of the second betas.
Registered developers are able to opt into the betas by opening up the Settings app, going to the Software Update section, tapping on the "Beta Updates" option, and toggling on the iOS 18/iPadOS 18 Developer Beta setting. Note that an Apple ID associated with a developer account is required to download and install the beta.
iOS 18 introduces Apple Intelligence, a set of AI features that are built deeply into the operating system. Apple Intelligence won't be coming until later in the beta testing process, but it includes features for refining and editing writing, generating images and emoji, and most notably, improving Siri and search. Siri is gaining a better understanding of natural language, improved contextual awareness, and the personal assistant will integrate with ChatGPT to answer more complex queries.
Apple Intelligence features are limited to the iPhone 15 Pro models and iPads with an M-series chip, but there are a number of other features that are coming. Apple is allowing users to rearrange Home screen apps to have open spaces, plus there's a dark mode for app icons and tinting options.
The Control Center is customizable and third-party developers can add controls for their apps, with the Lock Screen Flashlight and Camera icons able to be replaced or removed. Messages is gaining Rich Communication Services support to improve conversations with Android users, the option to schedule texts to be sent later, new text effects, messages over satellite when there's no cellular, and the option to use any emoji for Tapback responses.
There's a dedicated Passwords app for logins, passkeys, Wi-Fi passwords, and verification codes, and there's now an option to lock and hide apps, which means they can't be opened without secondary Face ID or Touch ID authentication even when your phone is unlocked.
Safari has a highlights feature that summarizes articles and surfaces key information on websites, the Photos app interface has been overhauled, and there's a new Tap to Cash feature for privately and securely transferring money using Apple Cash. Other features include equation solving and voice memo transcription in Notes, a game mode for improving game performance, and an option to respond to Siri on AirPods with head gestures.
iOS 18 is only available to registered developers at the current time, but Apple plans to make a public beta later this month. iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 will see a public launch this fall.
