Perfect opportunity to test: put it back in the library, lol :D

That's precisely what I did, and it kept working, so I think you're right. Just needed to open the Weather app and give it a little nudge back into life.

My home screen is getting weird now - no clock app, no weather, no calendar. All replaced by widgets in the widget screen. Liking it!

COVID-19 tracking API is still not available in Denmark for third beta :(
(it was working as intended for me in 13.x but has been disabled in the 14 betas so far)
I doubt you’ll see it until GM.
Given the privacy implications at stake Apple would not risk the possibility of introducing a vulnerability to the platform in a beta.

THERE ARE LIVES AT STAKE, MAN!
Sorry, just a little over excited there, but it could explain why they're not putting it at the top of the list. Crossing fingers for not needing it until September ;)

Agree. Two biggest bugs for me were random reboots at least 6 times a day, and Siri would randomly have trouble doing what I asked, usually replying to a text message while I was jogging. Come to think of it all these episodes were while I was not attached to wifi, so perhaps it’s a cellular bandwidth issue or conflict when attempting to initialize cellular data?

Must be an app, because for me, its been rock solid stable.

Any news on the Other space issue?

I don’t think I have any more free space than before (maybe I do?) but when I opened iPhone Storage for the first time after updating, nothing had changed. After a few seconds, the graph refreshed and now seems a lot more accurate. More space taken up by apps and photos and “Other” taking up a few GBs where it was taking up probably 30GB before.

When the PB update comes out I'll hold off for a bit because the existing PB is so solid.

Albums sync to my iPhone running iOS 14 public beta, but not to my iPad running iPadOS 14 public beta. Argh.
Hey

I had a similar issue on Beta 2. I fixed by closing down music in app switcher then going to: Settings > Apple ID (Your Name at the Top) > Media & Purchases > Click the man icon top left > Sign out of store.

then sign back in, then reopen music. Should start syncing again. :)

Hope this helps.

PB has seemed to randomly crash sometimes up to 3 times a day, other days, solid. Battery life is taking a hit. I've removed an app in the widget screen (Sugarmate) to help with battery life, because with the PB, it definitely burns through much more battery life than 13.5. Fully charged at 11PM. 10% while sitting on a nightstand by morning, with that widget app pulling 80% of the battery use. I'm on an iPhone 7 though, with a battery that indicates it should be 'serviced' with a max charge of 78%, so I should look at getting that replaced soon, regardless.

Has anyone noticed that the clock icon and clock widget show slightly different times?

Something definitely wrong when sound coming through my iPhone 11 Pro only ? And not AirPods Pro

I don’t think we’re going to see any IOS 13 updates anymore. Apple is done with it.

That would break from precedent. Apple has never done a final feature update to iOS without subsequently releasing at least one bug/security update prior to leaving that iOS version EOL'd.

The final version of iOS 12 for most devices came out in late-August 2019. And for A7 and A8 devices, iOS 12.4.8 came out at the same that iOS 13.6 did last week.

I’m surprised people had no issues with Beta 2. It was awful in comparison to 1. Fast battery drain, random crashing of apps, activation of Siri and control center after setting back tap controls. Had none of those issues in beta 1 with my 11 Pro Max.

Noticing fewer frame rate drops on iPad and is MUCH snappier on iPhone. Beta 3 is the one to get if you're still on the fence about trying out iOS14. It feels much more polished already and I can't wait to put it through the paces tomorrow and test out the battery life and see if it heats up like the other betas did from time to time.

On iPad, background audio streaming apps are much more stable now than on Beta 2. Widgets also seem to load a little quicker as well.

With the iPhone, I noticed the speed difference right away as I'm flicking through notifications and there was NO LAG. It felt really cool, almost like going from 20FPS to 60. Animations from unlock to the Home Screen are also greatly improved.

This, in my experience, is common and I’ve been installing betas since iPhone day one.

Yep. Apple targets having a relatively stable first beta release for WWDC, then subsequent beta builds are free to break more things while they’re adding /modifying new features. So the initial beta is usually more stable than beta 2.

Remember, they need a fairly stable build to demo on stage so there aren’t app crashes. They aren’t demoing the exact same build on stage that will be released to developers that day, but the idea is there; around the time of WWDC they have to have internal builds they can demo without app crashes on stage.

Yeah. Apple is likely “done” with iOS 13.x as far as new features, but there will likely be at least one 13.6.x bugfix release. They know that when iOS 14 comes out, not everyone will update right away. So they will likely release 13.6.x bugfix releases as necessary, even after the iOS 14.0 official release this fall.

And this beta solves the ‘used memory’, ‘other’, problem. Back to normal. Great!

The issue with “Other Storage” reporting that it was using most of the available space on the phone... tons of people have reported that, but did it actually cause any problems? Like, was anyone not able to install any apps because their storage was supposedly full?

Wondering if that storage was actually used, or if it was just reported wrong on the chart.

So far, I haven’t seen any reports of it actually being full but wanting to know as well!

Agree that we will see at least one additional iOS 13 update before the iOS 14 rollout. iOS 13.6 introduced several new features, and that's always fertile ground for new bugs to crop up. But, for this go-round I doubt that Apple will support iOS 13 beyond the iOS 14 rollout, because all devices that support iOS 13 will also support iOS 14. And before iOS 13, Apple was not in the habit of issuing updates to a prior iOS version once the new version became available.

Not counting the one-off fixes for iOS 6 (only affecting the 3GS and iPod touch 3rd gen) and iOS 9 and 10 (the GPS clock rollover issue), iOS 12 was the first version to continue receiving regular updates after the successor iOS version came out (7 updates in all, with the most recent one coming last week -- pleasant surprise for my almost 7-year old iPhone 5s). Yet, those updates were limited to the A7 and A8 devices that could not upgrade to iOS 13.

As a general practice, I'm one of those users who stays with an EOL version for a while before upgrading to the new iOS version. (Before Apple eliminated the app management function in iTunes, I used to wipe the device and install the EOL iOS version using the full installation file before restoring the apps and data from a backup -- freed up a huge chunk of storage space and subjectively seemed to help the device run smoother.) In fact, the responsiveness and stability of iOS 12 (and reported issues with iOS 13) led me to wait all the way until iOS 13.6 before upgrading my iPad.
