Well so far it seems like 8gig for a wallpaper update. Hopefully there’s a lot of bug fixes.

I’m actually quite sad they seem to be frosting everything. I was looking forward to liquid glass as it was shown in the keynote but I don’t install betas, always wait for the public release.

I wish we had the choice of frosted or the initial version. I love how glassy it was and how the light would bend around everything. It wasn’t perfect and did need a few tweaks, but it looked so fresh. Now it just looks so much like iOS 18 again.

Well, one of my friends installed this beta and I'm seeing it for the first time in person and I gotta say... this looks terrible.

I wonder if there's chaos internally at apple from such bad feedback on the iOS 26 design.

Good to hear about performance being better but I'm not hearing about any changes as to Liquid Glass aesthetics being changed at all.

And I don’t think it is ever going to be. This is it. This is what they’re releasing, this is what they think looks pleasing and makes sense. Wild.

The fact that this iOS revamp had to have been in the works for at least a year, and so many people have seen the designs and used the betas, it’s truly amazing that anyone at Apple signed off on this UI. It’s terrible. Awful, lifeless, illegible and unusable unless you disable the entire OS as much as possible using Accessibility. Wild!

Apple today provided developers with the third betas of iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 for testing purposes, with the updates coming two weeks after Apple seeded the second betas.

Registered developers can download the new beta software using the Software Update section of the Settings app.

iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 feature Apple's new Liquid Glass design aesthetic, with a focus on translucency and glass-like interface elements. The design extends to the Lock Screen, Home Screen, and Control Center, along with menus and buttons in apps.

Apple's software includes features for apps like Messages, Phone, Shortcuts, and Apple Music, along with new Apple Intelligence features, a revamp for CarPlay, and more. In iPadOS 26, there's a whole new multitasking system that supports multiple app windows for a more Mac-like experience.

For more on the features in iOS 26, we have a dedicated iOS 26 roundup and a separate iPadOS 26 roundup. Several new features were found in beta 2, and we rounded them up.

While the iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 betas are limited to developers right now, Apple plans to release a public very soon. The updates will launch in the fall.

Seems laggier and more buggy than 2 so far for me. I’m on a 15 Pro.

Definitely not feeling worthy of being the public beta. Although I will say that I haven’t had any battery life problems with any of the betas, which is legit.

Happy to report that app switch gesture works in beta 3.

Unfortunately Slide Over still seems to be missing.
Great spot! Glad it’s back!

Tho beta 3 has seem to introduce some new bugs lol like making a phone call from the phone the in call opens in the background have to use task switching to access it

Seems Gurman isn’t happy with Liquid Glass changes in beta 3 oh well… lol

Gurman should finally shut up. There's nothing groundbreaking about the whole iOS 26, it's definitely not "one of the biggest iOS updates–if not the biggest–in the company’s history" he word for word claimed it to be. Gurman should literally shut up.

Calling them "dramatic" is a bit of a stretch, it's nowhere near "one of the biggest iOS updates–if not the biggest–in the company’s history".
Do you even use iPad? All the multi tasking changes have made it so I can bring this thing on vacation instead of also needing a laptop. That’s a first, a big change.
Either way, feel free to complain.

Why are you even talking about the iPad? Gurman said this about iOS specifically. Nothing dramatic about the iOS update.

Of course I feel free, and you continue to feel free to play that your iPad is now a laptop because you have a menu bar and some basic multitasking. Ground breaking. In fact, one of the biggest updates–if not the biggest–in the company’s history. I can't imagine Apple will ever top this.

It's difficult to tell if you're joking or asking sincerely.

It's been widely reported that going forward, all Apple OSes will bear the name of the (upcoming) year. This way, it's no longer necessary to remember different OS numbers for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, visionOS, etc. From now on, they will all be unified.
i was joking.
But... the question will likely arise, like from my elderly neighbor

Updated to b3 on my M1 iPad Pro 11, and it's all smooth. I am really liking all the new features in 26. Thinking about putting it on my 13PM. I'll use it another day or 2 on my iPad and decide then.
Really? I found moments of laggy UI on my M1 12.9. Maybe I'm more sensitive.
