Apple today seeded the third beta of an upcoming visionOS 2.1 update to developers for testing purposes, with the new software coming a week after Apple seeded the second visionOS 2.1 beta.

Registered developers are able to opt into the betas by opening up the Settings app on their device, going to the Software Update Section, tapping on the "Beta Updates" option, and toggling on the Developer Beta. Note that an Apple ID associated with a developer account is required to download and install the beta.

There's no word yet on what's included in visionOS 2.1, but there are visionOS 2 features that Apple has not yet released, such as the option to use a larger ultrawide screen for the Mac Virtual Display and support for Multiview for MLS and MLB games.

I hope its 90hz. I have an 4K 240hz OLED on my Mac Studio, 60hz on Vision Pro lets my eyes bleed

I can’t believe there still are people loitering these Vision Pro posts only to share their negativity and hatred.
Sometimes this negativity will reach Apple excecs and they’ll course correct… though probably not this mgmt team who has their heads up their butts, and has no clue how to invest the ginormous amounts of profit other than to buy back stock.

The negativity around Vision Pro has certainly gotten better over the months. Most people (and sites / channels) largely ignore the platform, and I prefer that to the constant derision of the product.
Well that's because 90% of people who "reviewed" them probably returned them or sold them privately after to people from other countries that it wasn't available in.

That's laughable. Apple executives will never take grade school level Apple burns seriously; especially from a group that has a history of making such comments daily for almost 20 years.

If you really want to make recommendations/suggestions to Apple, take the time to write a thoughtful adult-level letter expressing your views to Craig F or Tim C. You'll likely get a thoughtful letter in reply.

I'm a pretty tech savvy guy...and usually in on cutting edge tech...still don't know anyone who owns a pair of these..

Who here got 'em?
Day 1 owner. I use it nearly every day.

Most of the owners are on Reddit and not here.

There were a lot of reviews where the reviewers never intended on keeping the product. Those were the worst. But I agree that lots of people / reviewers had better intentions and were subsequently disappointed. The product category is notorious for returns, even with Quest.

Interestingly enough, the last minute fact that VisionOS 1.0 only supported English and the ridiculous light seal situation curtailed a lot of early international demand. Plus, international buyers with the money were probably better off flying to the US and purchasing in-store. The Ebay fees on a Vision Pro wasn't terribly far off from a plane ticket. That being said, I'm surprised (and delighted) that the price floor is as high as it currently is.

I mean, that’s kinda what I expected of the product lifecycle.

To outwardly hate it is stupid. It’s not a product for me at all (I demoed it at an Apple Store), but I’m fine with it off on its own island… getting features and updates whenever.

Yah, sour grapes. I've finally moved past the emotional attachment and can see these negative posts for what they are.

I applaud Apple for their bold entrance into the headset market. Had they played the card that the negative crowd chimes, those folks would just find other things to complain about. So while the high price might be out of reach for most average consumers, we can be proud that Apple has a greater vision and is plowing a path that we have yet to fully see. Good times ahead!

Wait, so you know a better course than Apple executives and engineers?

Are you trying to say that throwing more money at the project will move it in the "correct" direction?

Let's review this 3 years from now and see how well your position aged.

Hint: it won't age well. Apple knows exactly what they are doing and their course. This is not the Apple Car.

Apple's gonna keep pumping billions into goggles without any real-world usecase - anything instead of fixing long-standing Mac or iOS bugs, just so Cook can show his buddies in the stock market that Apple is still extending into new markets

That’s completely fair. I give it a 7/10. (5/10 if you live with anyone). But even with that, I think it’s a good step because the OS will mature and scale to better headsets / glasses.

Since the only use case I ever hear about, including from Tim, is for media consumption, why does it ever need an update?

Lol! I’ve been an Apple consumer since ‘93 and I’ve often argued we are not a cult or religion, but I’ll be damned if posts like this one don’t make that argument an uphill battle.

Might as well be this:

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
- Hebrews 11:1

Seriously. It’s just a corporation, not an all-knowing entity.
