Apple today seeded the third beta of tvOS 27 to developers for testing purposes, with the update coming two weeks after Apple released the second beta.

The beta can be downloaded and installed through the Settings app on the Apple TV. A free developer account is required.

tvOS 27 has few new features compared to the other 27 software updates, but it does add a redesigned Podcasts app, options for larger text, and a more responsive Control Center.

AirPlaying to an Apple TV from another Apple device is faster, and apps and animations are smoother. You can also now see AppleCare coverage details in the Settings app.

More on the features in tvOS 27 can be found in our Apple TV roundup.

I hope it corrects the “unable to connect to AirPlay” issue when you’re not even trying. Also, some more stability for high resolution Apple Music streaming would be nice….

Same! This just started a couple days ago and homekit quit working for some matter devices when this error started too. Switching it to my other Apple TV as the main Home Hub resolved that piece though.

Similar to me. My apple music would fail to play audio through my hompemods more than half the time.

Anything from pausing and playing, skipping tracks or even picking a whole new album to play.

The only way around it was either closing the music app or worst case rebooting the Apple TV and sometimes HomePods.

At first I put it down to my HomePods being stuck on 26. But maybe it’s a tvOS issue as well.

Either way, looking forward to the HomePod os 27 public beta this month.
