I don’t understand why all all three ultra watches can’t be supported with watchOS 27.. why is ultra one excluded?. and also why can’t I get this stupid update to work on my ultra two?? is beta two not out for the Ultra 2?
Thinking it must be HW related. Probably a driver conflict in something they added.

What does/will "new Siri" on Apple Watch actually mean?

Given that even on A-Series iPhone hardware Apple has declared anything less capable than an iPhone 15 Pro unable to run new Siri it seems pretty much a 100% certainty to me that not even this September's Apple Watch let alone any existing models will be capable of running the new Siri on-device models that are being built for iPhone and the level of cutting down that would be required to get anything meaningful onto a Watch would be extreme. Because of that I'm assuming that the Apple Watch code for the new Siri is by necessity (limitations on available computational resource) relatively limited and for many requests going to be forwarding the requests up to the iPhone and then returning the results.

As I understand it the current Siri code in Apple Watch does do some on-device processing. Apple made a bit of a thing about that in one of the Apple Watch launch events maybe 3 generations ago but again due to the on-device processing limitations I suspect that it's only simple stuff like setting a timer, controlling devices, checking the weather etc that are handled on device.

Is Apple really going to push the Watch component of Siri that much further with the new version, and indeed can it if it wants to keep even the latest Series 11 able to run it?

I suppose one thing that could be affecting the architecture quite significantly might be the desire to get the more tuneable and expressive voice onto the Apple Watch. I can see that as quite a challenge, again based on the sort of hardware requirements Apple is imposing on the iPhone to be able to run that, but it would be nice to have.

I don't know how the interface between Siri on the Watch and on the iPhone works with the current Siri but I suppose one approach might be for the full audio response to be generated on the iPhone and the query result is then transmitted to the Watch as an audio stream that is simply routed to the speaker. Alternatively maybe Apple stops trying to do any query processing at all on the Watch, not even setting timers etc, and instead uses the processing resources that frees up to put the more advanced voice generation code onto the Watch. Either of those solutions also requires some plan for what the system does if an iPhone isn't within reach, maybe reverting back to the old Siri voice so that some basic operations can still be performed on-device?

Or maybe Apple has worked some wonders with code efficiency and can do a worthwhile amount more even within Apple Watch Series 9/10/11 processor and RAM limitations (which are all the same because the basic S-Series architecture has been the same for the last 3 years).

Whatever happens I'm very interested to find out how Apple does architect this because I pretty much exclusively use the long-press on the crown of my Apple Watch as my interface to Siri right now.

Yeah the app switcher missing for now two betas is concerning...and rather annoying. Same goes for the walkie talkie although an app switcher seems like mind-numbingly basic functionality
I've already provided feedback when Beta 1 was released, but it's stil 'Open'
Those who want the app switcher back, please provide feedback to Apple.
FB22973967 (App switcher not opening when double pressing the Digital Crown) is the feedback number.

I’m still unable to get the Beta 2 to show up on my Ultra 2. I tried resetting it, turning off the Developer Beta options and turning it back on and nothing. It’s stuck on “ Checking for Update” on iPhone and Apple Watch. I made sure both were on the same network and still nothing.
