TV has ceased to exist as a medium for quality entertainment. If Apple can turn that around it would be a miracle.

I hope that networks holding out on streaming will be there demise. All of these tech giants are perfectly capable of making better content without them. Amazon and Netflix are already proving this. I hope Apple joins in on the movement.
Prime video got an extra boost (at least in europe) rhanks to the bbc fiering clarcson (and tje resy of the frm Top Gear hosts quiting). IMHO the grand tour helped them get a lot of subs that discovered additional things they liked, personaly I would have totaly ignored Prime video if it had not been for The Grand Tour, I suspect I'm not the only one

They should buy Sony pictures. They'll have Sony, Columbia, TriStar, Screen Gems, etc content. Max it costs you $20B or less than 10% of reserves. You'll have a library that you can use as leverage if Nexflix and Amazon try to block your access to their content.

Oh Spotify is streaming music... Gotta do that.
Oh Tesla is making electric AI driven cars... Gotta do that.
Oh Amazon & Google are making home voice driven hubs... Gotta do that
Oh Netflix & Amazon are producing original content... Gotta do that

Yo, like stop.
You forgot the smart watch

Apple certainly needs a top notch video content person as it seems that they are currently pretty much rudderless in the area.

I am baffled by Apples almost complete absense in the market currently dominated by Netflix/Amazon et.al.

I stumbled upon this a few weeks ago

Apple hasn't sold me on watching this series - ever; can't imagine any other tv shows from them would be any better

Apple once upon a time had a golden opportunity to be the digital hub of the living...the de facto standard. Somewhere down they lost site. Its a shame as when the original Apple TV came out I really thought they were on to something great.
They have HomeKit,iTunes,Siri,Airport routers and Apple TV but now many of these single elements just feel convoluted and need of a re-think.

Also i think they lost the battle of video because of the way TV's have evolved over the years into having their own Apps with the likes of Amazon and Netflix on these 'Smart' TV's. Also cheap Hub sticks like Chrome Cast and Amazon FireStick.

Why have different boxes to deliver same content? Apple needs to do the same and provide apps for these different platforms that way iTunes will be accessed by many more people.....Unfortunately :apple: won't do this.:)

Apple needs to stop trying to do too much. Simply focus on the products that made you great. I want an awesome Macbook Pro, not a TV show.

I wish like hell they would focus on their current line up. It seems like they're throwing so much against the wall to see what sticks.

Yeah, like Nintendo, should have sticked to making playing cards.
If Nintendo's playing cards made them an $800b company, I would recommend Nintendo to keep making playing cards :p

If these original content programs have to adhere strictly to Apple's political correctness guidelines and political agenda then count me out. We've already lost enough freedom here in the US.

They are a day late and a dollar short. Should have done this 3-4 years ago. Now they are at the back of the pack, and everyone beat them to the punch. This seems to be the case now days. Without the iPhone they would be in serious trouble.

Didn't people say the same thing about them getting into music streaming? And phones for that matter?

I'm sure it's difficult to not be able to lord your ethnicity, gender, religion or sexuality over your peers and neighbors anymore.

I don't know…

Why doesn't Apple try to pick up fan favorites that were abandoned by their networks? They have a built in audience and will attract to people to the Apple brand. And, that's the ultimate goal, right? Sell more hardware. Apple isn't trying to make it on subscription margins. Apple always makes their money on hardware.

So, produce new episodes for shows like "Firefly" & "Agent Carter" and make them only available on Apple platforms. People will flock to buy Apple devices if they can see their favorites. No one is going to buy an AppleTV to watch "Planet of the Apps".

It's not often that I can hear Steve Job's voice so clearly in my head, but all I can hear is him walking into 1 Infinite Loop and saying "What the bleep are you guys doing? This is bullbleep! Are you bleeping kidding me? What happened to developing products that enrich people's lives? You're blowing it!"

I bet this guy really was looking forward to being a producer as well... And Apple had to interfere and snatch him.

And clearly you have been fooled into thinking that respecting people and having freedom are not possible at the same time, just like the good pro government nazis want you to believe. When you have given ups all of our rights in the vain and impossible attempt to be fair, the government will turn against you. Why? Because they always do and there will not be any one left to stop them. Read a little history. I think the saying is "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely."
