iTunes Store balance

I have enough balance to cover the iTunes Match yearly fee. Does anybody know if the renewal $ will come out of my iTunes Store balance? Is there a way to set it up to do that? Thanks

Good for levelling your old CD rips up to decent quality but the value of this decreases for subsequent years.

I will be relying on Google music which is free and will soon offer matching... for free. Why would you pay for an Apple service if Google offer an equivalent - on the iphone .. but for free ?

Does google's version include downloads of songs or just streaming? When it first came out I checked it out and it didn't.

it was a pain matching my 6000+ songs, but I do like having my music anywhere I go and as I have 12+ months to go I don't have to worry about renewing now :p

I wish there was a way of getting it to re-attempt to match those that didn't match first time and were uploaded.

It may sound picky but I can hear a difference in sound between the uploads and the Apple matched versions - which sounds odd in the middle of an album that has (for reasons entirely unfathonable) matched some songs and uploaded others.

I bought this 3 weeks ago and still only have 7,000 of my 11,000 songs synced up. Freezes every time it uploads songs. Not amused apple!

25,000 songs isn't enough.

I have about 45k in my main library, and around 12k in my itunes matched library. Didn't take long to figure out that I really did not need Madonna's "True Blue" matched, but only had it because of an ex. Same goes for nearly 30k other songs I just don't listen to, but keep around as disk potatoes.

Still, it matching partial albums is a pain in the ass.

Also I was in the beta which I think gave an extra 3 months of access. Have not seen a renewal notice yet.

iTunes is currently in its feature mode - where i have to sign out of everything and then add my computer back in to match. A lovely exercise I get to perform on each machine with iTunes installed whenever I reboot. Once that is done I will confirm my renewal date.

iTunes Match was infuriating when I first got it. It had so many limitations and it barely ever worked properly. Sometimes I'd try to play a song and it would just never download or start playing. Sometimes everything would completely break and I'd have to essentially restore my device to get ANY music to play again. It was awful.

After iOS 6, however it seems like things actually work pretty smoothly. It really does work as advertised. Unfortunately there are still a few annoying limitations (I can't upload files with a bitrate of under 100kb/s? Seriously, Apple? And only 25,000 songs with NO option to pay more to get more music in there, even?). Also, mixed CDs sometimes didn't "match" to the correct songs resulting in a pretty awful listening experience.

At least now I can say that iTunes Match gets the basics right. Let's hope Apple does keep making such improvements in their cloud services.

I've already invested too much time in the iTunes Match service, so I really have no choice but to renew.

This is so true. I took out a loan for £250, so now I've simply got no choice but to continue borrowing more money and fall into a pit of debt. Even though I don't have to.

Not sure I'm going to renew (probably not). I seem to always have trouble with the music showing up in the library but they are ALL greyed out and you cannot play them. Not sure what is going on there but I'll usually have to turn off iTunes Match and then back on or something to that extreme. It doesn't work all the time but it has worked before.

It's not a bad price however and I love having all of my music with me or at least less than 25k of it. But I think I'll just keep using Pandora for day to day music.

I would like to see Apple start offering Apple Lossless music and at least offer the ability to if I use iTunes Match and my music collection is in Apple Lossless, let me access it.

WILL NOT BE RENEWING. I disabled it months ago.

Music gets stuck and is unrecoverable.

ITM takes music that is on your computer uploads it and then deletes it from your computer. Then when you try to download it again, it gets stuck. I am missing hundreds of songs.

It replaced all of my "explicit" music with mild versions.

I could go on, and on,,, but this reminds me to go right now and make sure its not on auto-renew.

ITUNES MATCH = FAIL

Like many have mentioned, I am not renewing either. I was more upset that playlists didn't work correctly, data was not updated to show the number of plays, date last played, etc.

Maybe iTunes 11 will correct these problems, but until then I have turned auto-renewal off and I will continue to manually sync my music to my iPhone and let my apple tv connect to my imac to play my music.

iTunes deletes music when you upload it? That's news to me...

I have several smart playlists the use the "Last Played" date and iTunes match completely messes up that data. Mine does not renew until January but I will not be renewing unless the metadata problems are fixed.

I was glad to see this because it reminded me to turn on the auto-renewal.

I feel for you… I would advise that the very first thing anyone deciding to use iTunes Match should do is make a back-up of their existing iTunes Library that they can access if anything goes awry.

Match shouldn't have deleted anything on its own though. Maybe you should try again before your subscription runs out.

I'll bet you have some you don't know about.

Create a smart playlist using location is "not on computer"

Why would it ever be "not on computer"

My best guess is that low bit rate songs are matched and ITM attempts to upgrade them but they get stuck in that "waiting mode".

Some of those I have never been able to recover.
