Seriously, the apple tv is great, but this huge fricking server can't be the reason. So what is it used for?
Or will it just be used so there is finally a decent speed in the itunes store and mobileme?

Also i thought there would be wireless syncing in itunes X...

why not? We are now renting TV shows and movies with the new apple tv. Soon all we will buy is a "license" to a song and play it from itunes server.

I think it is probably a mirror server and possibly a local network time server as well.

I don't think they'd build a fairly large datacenter just for a time server. It's probably for MobileMe and iTunes.

It's mainly going to be used for streaming content (when it comes). I'm sure they'll use some for MobileMe and the iTunes Store/Ping also.
