It's pretty stupid to open a second store in Columbus when Dayton doesn't have one. If they opened a Dayton store they would have a triangle of stores in Columbus, Dayton, and Cincy that would cover a LOT of ground. A manager at the Cincinnati store even told me they've been pushing Apple to open a store around Dayton.

Oh well, I guess I'll keep driving to Cincinnati for now.

In a shopping mall?

Don't they usually prefer landmark locations rather than malls?

There are apple stores in a LOT of malls in the US.

nice to finally see one in lex. Much faster than driving to lousiville while in school... Now how about one on the west side of the state? ;)

Wish I could make it to the launch, but I'll be gone on vacation.

My friend and I will be there early. Apple sent out an email about the new store opening and said this about special goings on.

"In celebration of our new store, current Mac owners can buy a One to One membership—normally available only with the purchase of a new Mac.* And if you're one of the first 1000 customers, you'll get a free commemorative T-shirt."

So, I will be looking forward to my free commemorative t-shirt. :D

Well, I guess I'll see you Saturday. This should be fun.

Perfect

I agree that Polaris is a great location. On days like today, I would prefer to air conditioned environment of Polaris over the open aired Easton.

Glad to hear this. I like the Eston Towne Center Store, in Columbus Ohio, but it is always packed. Hopefully this second store will calm things down a bit, by adding the second store at the Polaris Mall.

Finally!

It's about. Bloody. Time! I've been hearing rumors that we'd finally get an Apple Store here in Lexington for a while now. I'm halfway surprised they didn't put it over in Hamburg, but it's definitely closer for me with it being in Fayette Mall. I hope I can drop by the opening, but unfortunately I have to be downtown an hour later and may not be able to get there until later in the afternoon...

I'm in the Northern KY/Cincinnati area and we already have a store, but I happen to be driving down to Lexington in the morning for a soccer tournament this weekend. I'll definitely be swinging by to check out the new store.

Shot of the apple store in Polaris Fashion Place I took yesterday. Anyone there today, how long is the line?

Oh and the Columbus area population is over 1 Million. We needed another store badly.

The new store in Chicago looks to be extremely close to completion, but I can't find any info on when it's opening. I wish they'd open the damn thing already; I plan on getting a new MacBook Pro there when they do :D

No camera connection kit for me today

Lexington Apple store at Fayette Mall. The line wraps around the corner to the left at the end.

Cheers to another day.

There's an Apple store opening at Summit Mall in Akron, OH soon. It may be opened already, but I haven't been there for a while.

I was at the Polaris opening, it was pretty huge. People started lining up at 6:30, I got there at 9 and was about 200 people back from the start of the line. I'd estimate about 600-700 people when it finally opened. The line went outside the mall's doors. But I got my t-shirt, so I'm okay.

I stopped by the new Lexington store at about 5pm- was still completely packed (which doesn't surprise me, I've rarely been in one that wasn't bustling...). We've been WELL overdue for getting one, and it looks like they'll probably do quite well. Staff were a bit too overenthusiastic at points though... but I figure that it was their first day and that they'll get over it before too long. :p

Absolutely thrilled though that I only have to drive 10 minutes and not an hour and a half to get service done on my MacBook or simply browse through new hardware. Though I was a bit disappointed at the poor selection of car mount kits for iPhones that they had in the store- I needed one for a car with a fairly steep windshield and they barely had anything that wasn't the $150 TomTom/Magellan car kits... I eventually stopped by Best Buy and found a Belkin one that was exactly what I needed.

What is so special about the Polaris opening? What did they give away, just T-shirts?
