Yes Apple I'd already planned an Apple watch for my wife

I've already done all my Apple shopping for 2017 & 2018: Just picked up a 12 watt Apple power supply for my 3 year old iPhone.

I think there's no mention of the HomePod because it's debut is still nebulous. It's just December. Paranoid Mustang says late December since it's not a part of the holiday gift guide.
Fair, but I'm still sort of surprised given how Apple loves to push unfinished products for the sake of quarterly profits. In short I'm rather shocked they aren't rushing to get HomePod out for the Holiday quarter.

“If you didn’t buy one of our expensive products on any other of the 364 days of the year, Christmas is your unique chance to buy it for the exact same price as any other day of the year.”

Brilliant!

The Apple Black Friday discounts are never as good as offers to be gotten elsewhere. The problem though now, is many of their products are BTO - so unless you are happy with the stock configurations, there are less reasons to buy from elsewhere (even if they offer a better discount). You used to be able to buy the base model at any retailer and upgrade the RAM and storage yourself. Now most of the base configurations are so poorly spec'd and not able to be upgraded later, that you are almost compelled into buying a BTO model direct through Apple. Otherwise you're stuck with the RAM & storage configuration for the life of the machine. I've not come across any other retailers (in the UK at least) that offer a pure SSD storage configuration on the 27-inch iMac for example - they all just sell the stock Fusion drive.

Do people really buy their family such expensive stuff at Christmas in the USA? My wife is lucky to get something that costs £200...

It depends like everything else, my parents would never spend on me what I spend on my child. I don't often buy my wife stuff so I don't mind spending more at Christmas.

Dear Santa Jobs,

I really would like an iPhone X for Christmas...and a Red Ryder BB gun. I've been a good boy all year.

I was looking for a gift worth 20-30 USD, you know, something small.

What do I get for that?

A Lightning cable?

Sure. Or you could give an iTunes gift card that the recipient could use to purchase apps.

I was hoping that multi device charging mat would be released in time for Christmas because it is one thing I think my husband would appreciate. But we already know that’s going to be released later. Sigh.

Other than that, I think our family has got what we need and can afford right now from the Apple store.

I think I might finally put AirPods on my own wishlist. They seem nice for hands free calling.

Loving the mini-persons. Really digging this campaign!
Their campaigns have been pretty dreary samey for about a decade. (oh Mac vs PC, you were so enjoyable yet contentious). This one actually made me smile.

At this rate that’s how big the iPhone will be in a few years.
They tricked you - its not bigger it's just closer.

I actually upgraded my 6 to a 6+ just by holding it closer to my face each time. It just works!

What's your wife going to do with 10 Lightning cables?!

Typically it's A Product (MacBook, Apple Watch, iPad) you have to purchase at full price to receive the gift card. I found last year's Black Friday deals from Apple lackluster. Most third-party retailers will have much better incentives and sale prices than Apple will offer. But nonetheless, I always like to see what they have to offer.

I wonder if they do anything for us in the U.K? i can't remember if they did last year or not, i'm looking to get a Series 3 Apple Watch and upgrade from my Series 0 but i might hold off until Black Friday even if it is a gift card it's still something i suppose.

Their holiday quarter extends past December. The HomePod isn't missing it.

That said, I am half expecting the HomePod to be released in the days before Xmas, just like the AirPods last year.
