Just letting y'all know, I get rejected (Not my app being deleted) for this because Apple has strict guidelines on how an app should look.
One example is "The button cannot look like this, it has to look like this." it's so annoying...
Odd. In the 12+ years I've been writing apps I've never had this rejection from Apple review. I've had a wide spectrum of button styles in that time.

I have never heard a single case of a retailer refusing to stock an item because of the way it looks.

I don’t mind if Apple lay down some standards regarding the way apps look so long as it doesn’t stifle innovation. Not everything in life has to look the same. If Tim Cook doesn’t like it then maybe Apple should build more of their own bland looking apps.

Oh please.

Walmart famously has refused to stock bulky products because it doesn’t meet size to value ratio. Here’s a link to their packaging standards - page #216 (page 41 of the PDF) has an example of packing that isn’t allowed for toys.

Whole Foods has strict environmental packaging requirements. They also require that they get approve any packing changes (link)

All the major stores have standards for being on their shelves, and packaging is designed to meet those standards. In addition, companies can choose not to sell a product for any reason at all - there’s no “right to be in the store”.

This isn’t odd or strange.

We have no way of knowing if these figures are correct or not. Apple have lied in court before.

We, those who believe apple we, will assume the figures are accurate. Those who don’t believe apple are free to cast shade. Makes no difference to the outcomes of these things.

Apple has shared ‌App Store‌ Transparency Reports since 2023, because it agreed to do so as part of a 2021 class action lawsuit settlement with developers

oh

So this really isn’t something they were doing by choice.

Seems like Tim Cook Apple has to be forced by legislation and court judgments to do anything in anyone else’s interest.

Honestly, i always thoguht they did it strategically to justify their walled garden.
