Apple today released a new ad on its YouTube channel, highlighting the photographic capabilities of iPhone 7 Plus, including Portrait Mode.

In the sweet new ad, entitled "The City," two people spot each other from across a crowded city street and then go on a series of adventures while using the iPhone 7 Plus's camera to capture their journey.

The song "Sing to Me" by Walter Martin is featured in the background, and the ad uses the tagline "With Portrait mode on iPhone 7 Plus, you can focus on what you love and leave everything else behind."

Apple has done several ads focusing on the iPhone 7 Plus and its dual-lens camera, and this particular ad appears to be a sort of sequel to "Take Mine," the ad about a girl in a Greek village who captures the town using the Portrait Mode depth effect.

That was really terrific. The quality of photos we can get on our phones these days is remarkable. If we don't have our dedicated camera with us, we no longer have to settle for garbage shots from our mobile device like the smartphone cameras of yore. And this is coming from a DSLR owner. Great ad.

What a great ad! Still, I feel like it's missing something…

it is amazing what can be done with phone cameras these days. I get people with huge DSLR Nikons coming through saying they will take pictures of my resort for cheap. These days I just laugh and say no thanks I don't need a photographer for basic websites and online marketing.

My dad bought an iPhone 7 and asked how to do Portrait mode...I go over and see he doesn't have the "Plus" - he got kinda peeved. He's not techy and didn't know there were different features (which I'm guessing that non-techy people are Apple's main crowd).

All I'm saying is that all iPhone 7's should be built & act the same (obviously a high res screen and bigger battery would be acceptable. But not giant features).

Yes, when it works. lol

Exactly, and even then it works well about half the time

I am good at getting the right effect, but none of the portraits that I took indoors or at night are print worthy. I do have quite a few very good outdoor ones. If iPhone 8 increases the aperture and stabilizes the zoom lens then it will truly be a standout feature.

Meh. Lipstick on a pig.

The halo blur around foreground subjects is laughable. Come out with the focus adjustment post-capture as a "feature" and then I'll drool.

I'm hoping the ISP in the iPhone XE handles this even better, as this is my favorite feature of the camera.

Video would be amazing too.

Shame (on you Apple).

Just my words!! Apple should use the 2 cams to create a lightfield feature, so re- focusing was possible with much better blur!

One of the best ads to come out of Apple in a long time.
Now if they could just kill the Practically Magic tag.

As an Apple fan I literally feel ashamed about this. I hate Apple making this mess.

I know...He goes "I read/watched a commercial about how the iPhone 7 takes these portrait-esque pictures. I didn't know it was limited to the giant iPhone 7".

I mean, he didn't do his homework on this - so shame on him. But, by having the same series phones, with different features, isn't a great customer experience either.

It was great when if you had the latest iPhone, you had the best Apple could offer (as there weren't 2 versions to pick from).

The fake bokeh novelty that makes subject's head float weirdly from their body has worn off.
