I have an iPhone 6s+ and it is very nice. But I have NO applications or usage for the 3D touch. It is useless.

I have NO use for the "live photo" feature either. Tried it and it was too hard to get a good picture and took up lots of space. That feature has been turned off on my phone since the first day. I take a lot of pictures with my iPhone.

My iPhone 6s+ is a big improvement over my iPhone 4 that it replaced, but the newest features are worthless.

It's WORTHLESS TO YOU; you or I, are not everyone.
Even the many ranters here are but a spec in the 800M IOS users.

Live Photos has some great use cases, like pets. The problem is for me using the 6S without OIS they look really bad. A short clip where the whole thing shakes just doesn't look good.

3D Touch has been the opposite of Siri for me. When Siri was announced I thought it would be something I use daily. Here we are four years later and it still isn't something I have worked into my daily reoutine (partially because it often mishears me and "hey siri" activates less than half the time). 3D touch I trash talked on the forums liek no other. "They could have just implemented long press but wanted a new feature", I would say. I use 3D Touch a doozen or my times a day. It is my most used harware feature since Touch ID.

I wish I could scrub forward and backward in a live photo to choose a frame I like. So often I like frames that are not in the photo, but in the video embedded before and/or after it. I'd love if Apple implemented that.

Live photos of my children is wonderful as sometime a 'still' photo doesn't catch all the magic. So for me the adds were good as they are simple without need of any explanation.

3D Touch is a lame, under-used gimmick that devs just don't care about. Most likely because they know users don't care about it. Live Photos were lame years ago when Nokia invented them and they're still lame after Apple ripped off the idea.

I don't care what the ad says if Aubrey Plaza is in it <3

I use siri daily to make phone calls, put remainders, and set up alarms when the phone is charging and I am in bed, far away from my phone, screaming at it ''HEY SIRI!! SET UP AN ALARM FOR 6:00 AM!!'' so I really enjoy it:D

Nice. I was really excited for "hey siri" but I say it and more often than not nothing happens. Unsure why; I have tried setting it up 3-4 times just in cases the setupdidn't take. On ocassion I will use it for things like weather, but I hold down the home button. Doing a google search I find is faster just typing myself. For me, google now just works so much better. :/

They need something to sell the next iPads with.
It will not just be another iteration: It will be thinner!

And "Make it thinner" - Jony will be talking about it in a video, telling you how he and his design team had to "disconnect from the past" to create something "genuinly new" or so...

I also believe google now is a better option but since I live in Turkey and google now is not working here (neither do cortana) my only option is siri. It is really weird that when it works siri is amazing but when it doesnt its one big letdown:/

I'm not a fan of 3D Touch. I find it fiddly to use to get to the task switcher with a case on, and the keyboard cursor often flips to a selection when I just want to move something. Holding and dragging in the text is fine for that. While I suppose it has some use to some people, I don't see how it is a huge thing and the future of iOS like some people paint it. I'm perfectly fine with iPads not getting it - they aren't one handed, use while walking around, shaving milliseconds off a task is useful, devices.

Live Photos is fun though. Had them on my lumia too. I think the trick is not to deliberately take live photos - that just seems of limited value. Leave it switched on for capturing those candid, unexpected moments and looking back on them. I would like a quick way to remove the live part and convert to a standard photo though - for when I take simple photos eg of a receipt for expensing, or a product in a store to email to my wife to check.
[doublepost=1455785289][/doublepost]I like 'hey siri', but it triggers when I call my daughter (daisy), so I get lots of false positives. Would be good to be able to set your own trigger phrase.

3D Touch has been the opposite of Siri for me.

I think for me it'll follow a similar trajectory. I've owned every iPhone since the 4s, but it's only been since I got a 6s Plus that I've really started to use Siri for anything. The two reasons likely being I've felt there's been tangible improvements to the service, and Siri Hands Free has made it much more convenient to engage it.

While I can see the advantage to 3D Touch, right now I'm not convinced many of those application short cuts really save me any time and therefore I don't use the feature. Previewing a link for example often gets me a screen half full of banners and I'm forced to follow the link to see any real content anyway. Other apps have many of the 3D Touch features close at hand anyway.

With time I imagine that will improve, especially as devices without 3D Touch drop out of the market and developers can be more bold as to where and when they support it. Right now it feels like an afterthought as the majority of users would be alienated if 3D Touch was core to any experience. To that end in optimistic of its future.

As for Live Photos...it's a bit of a gimmick but I'll be damned if I don't love them. I've already changed my shooting habits to hold the camera in place for a few secs after taking a pic, and from time to time will be conscious not only of what I'm shooting but background activity as well. Definitely a fan of the feature and previewing Live Photos may be the one time I really get much use out of 3D Touch.

3D Touch is under-used now because people don't really know about it, which is one of the reasons that Apple are advertising it.

It is certainly not a gimmick, but I agree that the current uses are a bit limited. But it is early days and developers need time to think of new uses for it. For example I use it in my app (Poison Maps) to allow fast panning across maps by temporarily zooming out according to how hard you press.

Apologies for the plug but it seemed relevant - 3D Touch will become more and more useful as developers come up with more ways to use it.

I have NO use for the "live photo" feature either. Tried it and it was too hard to get a good picture and took up lots of space.

From what I read in other forums, I though they barely take twice the space of a normal photo? (which to me sounds surprisingly good)

That feature has been turned off on my phone since the first day.

Oh, after such extensive and in-depth testing, I'll better follow your example.

I was filled with new hope with the recent Apple TV ad.

These, alas, are more of the bland, snarky-sounding Samsung-like nausea-inducing ads that we had to suffer for so long, albeit not as bad as the worst ones.

Perhaps it's fitting, though; both Live Photos and 3D Touch are gimmicks that don't deserve good ads.

Ah Mr Frost, here to bitch and moan again.

Have you used an iPhone 6S?

I ask this because my initial impressions were 'force touch looks incredible but live photos is a gimmick' and now I own an iPhone 6S, I actually find myself using Live Photos all the time, where as I rarely use force touch.

I'd have to disagree. (And of course this is opinion) I think the difference is the tone and handling of the witty humor. It's silly, informative and fun, not in-your-face-these-features-are-so-totally-better-than-your-phone in the way Samsung was (and is) trying to do. They sell the new features, and without bashing others in the process. I think they are quite great! :)

Yes, who can forget Samsung claiming the edge screen was great because when your phone is placed screen down (which no one does) you can still see notifications unlike the stupid old iPhone (or any other Galaxy phone)?

I have to say Live Photos is a brilliant feature, i don't have the iPhone 6s (I'm still on the 6 Plus) but my best friend has one and the Live Photo's has provided some great photos, for example at her son's birthday party when he was blowing out the candles. I didn't think it was worth upgrading from the 6 Plus for, but i'm looking forward to buying the iPhone 7 and having the Live Photo's feature along with 3D Touch.

3d touch ad was nice and funny, ...missed the flight lol! she's hot! however the other ads were not that great

Curious to see how Samsung will advertise their versions.
I saw S6 ads and they were nice especially the wireless charging ad was very funny!

I liked the 2 ads. Quite funny and they just show what's possible in a very easy way. I don't use Live Photos very often, but it's great to have it, when you need it. Watch photos later is more fun and emotional, when they are not just static. Wish I had this feature earlier.

3D Touch is one of the most features I use. I use it everyday, especially for shortcuts and peek&pop. Didn't think it would be that much used, but it's really helpful :)

The problem is people are going to think Smasung copied Apple with the 3D Touch feature. Apple are hardly ever the first to release a feature, they usually wait to perfect it. Which Is why I'm guessing we are only no staring to hear about the possibility of the iPhone 7 being waterproof.

Perhaps it's fitting, though; both Live Photos and 3D Touch are gimmicks that don't deserve good ads.

Perhaps you have no interest in them, which is obviously fine. But many do enjoy them. I use both on my partner's 6s (especially Live Photos). I only have a 6, looking forward to them on my 7.

So as a user, when exactly do I know when I should 3-D touch something to get a pop or peek? It's totally not clear. Marketing gimmick, not good design.
