Apple today shared a new ad called "Float," which highlights the new 2020 iPad Pro and its Magic Keyboard. The video features a colorful hummingbird flying around an equally colorful iPad Pro display with Magic Keyboard attached.

The hovering and floating of the hummingbird alludes to the fit of the Magic Keyboard, which "hovers" above the keyboard and stand using a magnetic attachment for adjustable viewing angles.
Introducing the new iPad Pro. It's faster than most PC laptops and features the most advanced mobile display, ever. With Wide and Ultra Wide Pro cameras and the new LiDAR Scanner to take AR to the next level. Oh, and it floats on a new backlit Magic Keyboard with trackpad.
The video also highlights the new dual-lens camera system with LiDAR Scanner on the iPad Pro, and it features the tagline "Your Next Computer."

Apple debuted the new 11 and 12.9-inch 2020 iPad Pro models in March, and at the same time, introduced the new Magic Keyboard. The keyboard was meant to launch in May, but Apple last week released it early, and the new accessory is arriving to customers as of this week.

Pricing on the iPad Pro starts at $799, while pricing on the Magic Keyboard starts at $299. Both can be ordered from Apple's website.

I think the keyboard is cool, and would probably buy one...if I didn't already own a MacBook. Not really sure what Apple is going for with this. I think Apple should focus on the iPad being a different sort of computing device with the main points of interaction being hand gestures that make use of the large screen, and the Apple Pencil. All I can see this is as a way for me to do things I can do on my MacBook, but worse.

Also the price on this is just too high. I feel there should have been a design that allowed for all the capabilities of a folio case for this price point.

honest question why don't apple make MacBooks touch screen, the whole thing was to keep iPads and laptops separate, now they have made the iPad a computer with trackpad and keyboard that logic doesn't add up, if they do this why not make MacBooks touch. I always thought the iPad was a tablet and not designed to be used with a mouse etc so they are going back on their word

so a while back they were trying to convince me that the iPad was a "super computer". And now they're telling me it's "not a computer".

I'm so confused now.

macOS is not designed for touch. As far as I'm concerned it is easier (and more sensible) to adapt touch-based operating systems for keyboard and mouse than it is to go the other way. Sort of a one-way street.

Basically you can click large targets with a small cursor, but can't touch small targets with a beefy finger.

Apple has no idea what it is doing. They don't care as long as it brings in the $$$$. They bend with the wind. Talk about no strategic direction.

but apple always made a big deal about keeping the iPad as a touch device now they want it to not be and a mouse and keyboard device so why not use the same logic for the Mac, give us a choice, is windows can do it they can

exactly, apple went away with what they said many times now they are giving up and admitting the iPad isn't a touch device, for me I love my iPad but it will NEVER be a computer
