I am surprised the same company that does a pretty good job putting in a nice 1080p and 4K camera on the iPhone will put in a 720p FaceTime camera on the brand new MacBook Pro.

Huh... I thought that was Steve Jobs as the father there for a brief moment!

It was Steve Jobs clone crying with what happened to Apple.

- This is an ad for an iPhone 7. Its minimum capacity is 32GB. Not 16GB. Enough to record 1080p & 4K video.

- iPhone's 4K video plays on 4K systems, including my iMac 5K.
- Your comment makes no sense.

I don't believe it is shot by iPhone. I think this ad is very misleading.

Indeed!! iPhone 7 Plus is still struggling to walk out from the portrait beta. Portrait mode applies to still photos and live photos, not videos. How did they get the bokeh effect in video? The lenses and processor simply can't handle that.

"Oh Romeo, oh Romeo! Wtf is my phone hissing like some poor bastard, oh Romeo"

"Because b****! You didn't pay for your damn Apple care!"

(Spoilers)

A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than of Apple's seventh iPhone

Last resort type of ads. The best ads are when Apple made the product the star. It should sell itself.

I don't think this ad was ever meant to imply that the first half of what we see is actually footage of a school play shot on an iPhone 7. Just that it will make you feel like you're shooting/watching a real cinematic movie.

Look at the lighting, the backgrounds, the wind blowing in the girl's hair, the first part of the commercial is clearly shot in a cinematic style either on a soundstage or on location outdoors. The camera moves with the actors across the stage, which would never be possible for a parent to record at a school play unless he was actually on stage with the kids.

Then when we jump from fantasy to reality we see how everything actually is. No soundstage, no moonlight, no fancy costumes, just kids in a school play with cardboard sets in an auditorium.

Ya think?

Ya think?

I point it out because of this quote from the original post:

In the ad, entitled "Romeo and Juliet," two children are shown acting out Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet in a realistic setting, with the camera panning out to show that it's actually a father recording a school play with the iPhone 7.

Taking that quote at face value would be misleading. I was expecting to see actual iPhone footage of a school play.

And then somewhere in the posts above someone else sounded skeptical that the cinematic footage could actually have been recorded on an iPhone...

They are doing what they are supposed to be doing, Thinking Different. lol.
Except thinking differently from "thinking different", which means they are thinking the same as everybody else when it comes to ads. Anyway, in this case, by different I meant Tim Cook has hiredtoo many people.

The dad zooms in and the camera never focuses properly (on the girls face) in the ad. nice haha.

Put your phones down and actually watch your children do things in the present moment. Despite the likes, no one on facebook actually cares about what your kids are doing.

I actually like to record such moments so we all can enjoy it again and again. Thankfully we no longer have to lug a VHS camcorder with us anymore.

wherefore art thou headphone jack..?

Really? You had to bring the "Headphone Jack" into this thread. I honestly think some forum members post comments such as yours, only because they want their like status to rise, more than they care about the headphone jack. It needs to stop.

Back on topic: Coming from a 7 Plus owner, the 10x optical zoom has managed me to photograph some amazing shots from distances not obtainable with my previous 6s Plus.

I wanted watch the video without disturbing anyone, but I couldn't plug my headphones in :(

And just think of the additional magic for the audience watching from in back of you and everyone else in their sea of 4.7" electroluminescent rectangles, not to mention those oh so considerate souls in the 3rd row with the ipads hoisted overhead.

At least the old VHS cameras kept the display light hidden inside the eyepiece, and let everyone else see the event undistracted. But who cares about anybody else's experience, right?
It's not like someone might want to have a recording of their child's performance for themselves, and other family members, and the child him/herself. What a crazy unrealistic and unexpected idea. But then we all know too well that everyone realizes and understands that, even those who try to make it seem otherwise.

Add seems a bit snobby. Sorry. Worse of all, it's just boring. And as was stated: you should be watching the play instead of filming it. Why the need to film and take pictures of everything?

Well, sure, pretty much anything (good or bad) can be taken to an extreme. That's pretty much neither here nor there.

Already addressed earlier in the thread.

Or, alternatively, don't let the judgemental ramblings of some member of a tech forum dictate how you watch things and just do what you enjoy most.
