To everyone who criticises SIRI and Apple Inc.

People need to come to realisation for one that the only reason Siri isn't as "advanced" as it's [not] competition e.g: The Google Assistant, Alexa and Microsoft's Quintana is because of Apple's foundation, which is Privacy.

Yes, it could do so much more, but really now. What is that the other personal assistants do better that Apple doesn't? Siri gets the job done, plain and simple, while being beautifully integrated in most if not every single Apple Product. It just works. And that goes for everything Apple, for I have yet to have any serious problems with my 2013 iMac, Mac Book Pro and newly bought iPhone 7 Plus. Thank you Apple, I appreciate the hard work you and your employees, including the new intern who just started working earlier this week.

We need to understand that one of the many reasons why people choose Apple over its competition such as "Android and Microsoft" is Privacy. And for does if you who are not aware with Tim Cook's handwritten Privacy Policy I will provide you a link here. And suggest you read it right now. That two dollar bagel can wait because we're taking big here. Where was I? Oh: It's a very short but beautifully written 2 minute read that will make you appreciate Apple a lot more which I hope you already do.

Apple is expensive or is it not? If you think abut everything you get with purchasing an Apple products besides the product itself is: Ease of use, simplicity (the true beauty of simplicity that is which is ineffable beyond words) and last but not least its Privacy and security, once again.

Now that I think about it, there's one more thing to love about Apple.

For does if you who are aware of were we are going with technology such as Virtual Reality, Micro chip implants (Which in fact already exists it's just not mainstream, yet.) I can tell you from my experience and studies that the future doesn't look as bright as we think it will. Apple knows this and Apple is trying to change just that. Apple is the rebel, breaking down social barriers, and essentially is trying to change the world.

Facebook, Google and co. invest billions upon billions into virtual reality that will one day doom us and destroy the man as we know him today. Apple knows this so they try to implement "Augmented Reality" to its products and as soon as iOS 11 drops Apple will have the biggest Augmented Reality platform in the world, thus controlling the marketing and hopefully make us forget about virtual reality.

Now for does if you who are unaware of the "Chip implant" which one can use to pay his bills, ride the metro, have all his health information stored. Well, that is simply un-humane and socially unacceptable and once again Apple knows this and this is one if not thee reason why Apple brought us the Apple Watch because it does everything the elite doesn't want it to do. And once again Apple is trying to stop the world from going to one direction by re-directing it to a different and safer direction, for both you and our children. And don't even get me started on Apple's green, make the environment a better place move, by making all of our severs run with 100% renewable energy and recycling 99% of our products components while teaching and encouraging the children of today to change the men of tomorrow by developing amazing apps.

Everything I just mentioned is only the tip of the iceberg aimed at the ones who find it easy to criticise Apple.

I have a deep, profound appreciation for Apple. That includes its CEO, it's many VP's, engineers, and Designers, down to the very friendly Apple employees at the many beautiful Apple stores around the globe, and since I'm already at it I might as well just publicly thank Apple, for making the world a better and safer place for third, me, my children, and children of todays world that will one day lead us into a new world, filled with peace and love for one another — Thank you.

Sincerely,

Sir Laurent Patrick Cantwell

Let's go back just a decade. :)

I use my mobile phone to make calls, for me that's all I need in a phone.

If I want to play games, write an e-mail, check my calendar, surf the internet, do my banking, I go sit in a chair and do it on my desktop at home or at my work computer.

Siri has been out for an entire 6 years in Oct. It's advanced very poorly... in my armchair dev opinion of course. :D
Indeed.

I've been thinking about those Homepod things recently and how 'too soon' they are. Siri doesn't do much and, as you said, hasn't progressed much in 6 years. I'd like a much more advanced system now. Say I've been listening to music in the car or on the bus home, when I come in through the door I'd like Siri (with an option) to tell me if someone had knocked on the door, or if anyone had called the landline (this is all possible with just microphones). I want an update on all the things that happened. Gosh, get some hyper local news - did the neighbouring pub win any awards? Was there an accident nearby? And after she's given me that update I'd like that music I was listening to to play quietly.

These personal AI's are the future but they're still so far away.

For most things in the video, Siri was obviously faster almost every time and give much better graphical and much more info.

What song is it? --- google failed and went to the web.
Who is the president? --- siri failed and went to the web
Show me german shepherd? --- google failed
What's going on? ---- both seems to have failed

In the end, both sides can do pretty much everything you asked them and sometimes they failed.

That goes back to the annoying myth that most people came to believe that Google Assistant and Alexa is way ahead of Siri.

Yeah, Siri is obviously capable of a lot. However, the future of assistants being very useful is being able to track more complex conversations. Google is clearly ahead at that. Though Siri is improving, it's doing so very slowly.

Try reading my whole comment properly, before embarrassing yourself.

I did.

Your suggestion of scribbling down notes on a piece of paper works for the odd grocery list you need every now and then, but then falls apart if you hope to use this long term basis.

That's where a smartphone excels - in being able to scale this process to however large you need it to be. Without needing to be subject to constraints such as space.

I am in no way seeing how my response isn't appropriate to the point you just made.
