This is so lame... Apple should stop playing with the film industry, I'm sure the film will be technically perfect, and from what I see they make their best to invest in something that's their potential market for products. No other reason here. And as for Billie, being famous at that age, especially in music industry smells like a potential drugs overdose in the future.

Apple promoting safe, wholesome content for the entire family!

Shocking! What’s this world coming to? 🙄

Not sure I understand all of the negativity on display here.

It's apparently a MacRumors commenter requirement: if you see a post about an Apple TV documentary about a famous person, you must comment about how much you don't like that person and won't watch that documentary. On occasion, you may instead comment that you simply do not know who that person is. Under no circumstances are you allowed to simply acknowledge to yourself that other people may have different tastes and not post about the subject.

(Seriously, this happens every single time and I was not surprised when I checked out the comments here, either.)

This ... Billie ... is in all intention and purposes through art and performance the modern Michael Jackson, Whiteney Houston, etc. Her Brother is incredibly talented as well and skills that many of you in the audio professional industry would appreciate a conversation or a few with.

Billy has accomplished a LOT and it is HER voice you hear singing, she's no auto-tuned brat to fame.

This is actually NO worse than Michael Jackson's Thriller which actually had elementary schools hand out a letter for parents to watch with their kids on Thriller's debut on TV. I'm old enough to have actually experienced exactly that and I laughed realizing at 12yr old back then - it was marketing.

Kids are not as wholesome or recluse or 'protected' as previous generations. Most kids aged 7 already know what Xan is! My generation at 7 ... the words "i'll <end> u" was huge to say/hear because we know the gravity of such words (<end> is a replacement for a work beginning with K).

Trust me many kids already idolize and dream of being Billie and it's all in a positive light.

Definitely a show I'm going to watch - cause I don't dislike music or artists even if the genre isn't something I understand or listen to on a regular.

Agreed. People should be more open-minded with things that they would normally not listen to or even consider. I'm in my late 40's and the music my kids listen to sometimes catches my ear and I find myself tapping my feet to it.

I also agree that kids are not as sheltered today compared to when I was growing up. If they have phones, they can look up things or run into things that are not appropriate. It's my job as a parent to guide them, not shelter them.

Maybe because the person in question is a public figure and maybe because this is a public announcement have something to do with it? Since when do users have only to say good things about something public like this? As long as we're all respectful, we can say that something is great or that something sucks in our opinion.

For articles about musicians, there’s also a strong contingent of, “that’s not the music that was popular when I was in high school, and therefore it clearly sucks and no one should like it and the problem is definitely not that my own musical tastes calcified when I was 15 years old”.

Billie Eilish was decades away from being born when I was in high school, and yet I can still find things to like about her music - it’s not that hard, people. And if you don’t like her music, guess what, we don’t care, and you don’t have to tell us.

Hold on. No-one is mentioning the $25 MILLION Apple paid for this?? $25 million for a documentary about a young singer!? Dear God, she's not living on the moon or curing cancer. Get a grip.

$25M for the rights, not for the documentary. That will cost a few more millions.

(A Nightmare Before Christmas was made with $24M)

Potential maybe ... but I think her upbringing and having a very core group of people in her personal world I think she's a LOT better balanced off than big stars of the past.

Then again there is pharmaceuticals use that can quickly creep into negligence for the use of well-being that ends up being a narcotic with no safety at all. Honestly I think she'll be more than just fine. check out the documentary you'll lean a LOT more about his tiny lil girl that's so much a woman beyond her years, yet doesn't try hard at showing it.

So,
this documentary: $25,000,000 minimum
The morning show: $150,000,000/season
See: $120,000,000/season

That's $295,000,000 for only one season of two shows, and the copyrights of one documentary. No other operating costs (servers, manpower, advertising etc.) included.

At $59.99 ($4.99x12) that's 4,926,520 paid subscriptions a year just to pay for the above, and we know that ATV+ has way many more expensive shows and documentaries. I truly don't get how Apple can justify this. First downturn to Apple's finances will be the death of ATV+.

So you can’t have an opinion about a teenager who decided she wants to be a public figure?

And why call an opinion that isn’t kissing her behind, hating?
What are you talking about? I never said anything of the sort, did I?

As I said, hating on a teenage girl is pretty sad. But those who feel that that’s the way to improve their life, should feel free 🤷‍♂️

Based on the comments in this thread alone, it’s obvious some have different definitions of “respectful” than others. And based on their joined date, there are those in this thread old enough to know better. Sad.

Honestly I haven’t seen any disrespectful comment. Some are snarky, but no one has insulted her or anything.

Man music really has died in the last 20 years or so.
*infinite eyeroll* Yeah, because this isn't music:

You don't have to like it, but if you don't have the capacity to recognize talent and when something is good (even if it's not your cup of tea) I can't help you.

Something tells me your not the parent of a teen girl. As I said, it’s obvious some have different definitions of “respectful” than others.

Ahahahha. Lol, you got it right. I am the dad of two teenage boys.18yo one left the house a couple of weeks ago; surprisingly it’s his girlfriend that can’t stand Ms Eilish.
In all seriousness, I wish her luck. Not my cup of tea; her success does not impact me or my life in any way.

What is obvious is she was not taught in the cookiecutter to memorize tests for school stats public schools and she was allowed to flourish at home and hone her natural gifts.
