As one of those subscribers I can most definitely fault their new content. It's laughably bad right now.
It's a Dog's Life - the new big Disney+ addition for this month. It's cute and all, but it's no Mando. The only thing on the radar inspiring excitement from Disney+ is "Muppets Now." And that's almost a full year after the last decent original in Mandalorian. (Yes, yes, Jeff Goldblum show was good too, but not Mando good). Thank goodness for my free Verizon year or I would be long gone from Disney+.

This 100%, I’m not really interested in having political views shoved down my throat at every opportunity. I was pumped about the beastie boys thing that was seemingly out of left field until I remembered ad-rock is a hardcore feminist now (and incidentally co produced other Apple TV shows). Ugh. Can’t they just make good content instead of trying to push an agenda.
Again, most of their shows don't have an agenda. See, Mythic Quest, Servant, and Defending Jacob are just good shows. Trying, Morning Show, and Home Before Dark are as well. None of these shows have an "agenda" other than telling a good story.

That is good if true, the problem I sampled some stuff and it was rife with it so I gave up on the service and never went back. It’s bad enough even if it’s not in all of it. But I may check out the ones you mentioned. Aside from that stuff their content seems to be weak overall, not a lot appeals to me.

The Banker was also very good.

Celebrity worship. Ugh. The worst.

And although that’s a statement on celebrity worship and NOT on ATV+, I’m nevertheless breathlessly anticipating a certain someone’s downvote. lol

That's one viewpoint and reflects more on the holder of that viewpoint than anything else.

Looking at it another way — and this is likely the way that the creators of this series intended — is that "creating and sharing something creates connections". Celebrities are only celebrities because they stood up and did something. Otherwise, they'd be a nobody in the eyes of the many.

The negativity in this thread is truly disappointing, although not that surprising. Many of the attitudes and viewpoints expressed here are exactly why we should all be concerned about the future of the human reason.

This series is nothing more than a collection of inspiring people and stories. Nothing wrong with that at all. It's going to make the world a better place because it will touch people's hearts.

Sorta like Netflix giving the Obama's production company a ton of money and one of their first is an uplifting documentary about Michele Obama's book tour. Wont watch this, or that. Do need to acknowledge that a lot of folks do though, hence the trend.

So when is Apple going to start using their new foray into entertainment to actually produce content that is....entertaining? I have already had enough of the leftist-centric self aggrandizing, I cannot imagine I am the only one.
hahahahahahahahahahahaha man that's some FUNNY ****!

Being inspired by someone is now political? What has brought you to see the world this way??

The guy saying obesity is fine to Big Bird...insulin resistance does not care about your feelings. Those diabetic toes hit with a vengeance as does the high pressure in the blood vessels of the eyes leading to optic nerve damge. I can go on with atherosclerotic plaque and heart disease and back and knee pain. This is serious stuff. I used to be fat. NO I was NOT happy and never believed that being fat was OK either. This video pushes the wrong message to lazy people and those who are on the fence on how to change or if they should change.

I understand the video has a men-are-bad tone, along with an attack on traditional societies, but that is politics. Science isn't.

Honestly thus far from the ad ... I'm only interested in seeing commentary or data regarding Spike Lee ( I was raised to Do The Right Thing, and always had that Jungle Fever) long before any of those movies debuted yet they spoke to me deeply growing up as I lived through it! Also Stevie Wonder ... since Motown my family has loved his music and him as a person, and I've grown up liking his music too. Most recently seeing him do an on-stage live duet with Sting, singing and adding his hallmark harmonica to an already favourite song of mine 'Fragile' I bursted in tears.

Dear Apple,

I never thought I would be writing one of these letters but...

.. have we had ENOUGH of Oprah already on ATV+?!

(lol I know, taking your post out of context but I'm finishing off with the above as my letter to Apple). Like please I'm bored of hearing her name related to ATV+/Apple. I mean the next thing we know the board will be paying her in Apple stock, grrrr.

Mandalorian is one of the top shows of the year. They don’t need as much new content because of their log of content. They’re not Netflix. It’s less than $5 for me for 3 years and that’s an incredible value.

Strong disagree. Every streaming service needs compelling originals. Not everyone is content with reliving their childhood or re-watching old movies. It’s undeniably great for families, but I’m a single man in my 30’s and for me it’s a no go.

Strong disagree. Every streaming service offers a specific blend of content. Disney Plus is NOT being catered to single men browsing the MacRumors forums. It’s a Big Mac meal a month service with access to tons of blockbuster content. That’s like faulting Netflix for not offering live sports. That’s not Netflix’s objective, nor is it Disney Plus’s to offer loads of new content. It’s a backlog for children and adults to watch content together. No one else has Marvel / Star Wars / Pixar.....these are valuable brands for specific needs....and it seems to be paying off.

They most certainly do need compelling new content and Mandalorian was not enough of it. It's not expensive to me either yet still feels like a ripoff at this point.

Sorry Apple has to do better with their content. After the free trial is over, i don't think a lot of people will sign back up.
I'm definitely in if the price remains the same. I want to see season 2 of Morning Show, For All Mankind, Mythic Quest, and bunch of others. There content may not be plentiful, but it's been really damn good imo.

They do get new content from their ever growing movie library. Rise of Skywalker, Onward etc.

It’s not like they don’t have original content on there. I’m interested in the behind the scenes Disney shows, they’re very interesting. Most of it is family oriented. It’s “Disney”.

Seems like people are sour that Apple TV + isn’t the “hit” they all thought it would be. Both streaming services offer completely different content for completely different audiences. Both will exist.

Au contraire. I am sour because i wasted 6 months paying Disney+ for a much hyped subscription which turned out to be a waste of money. I have indeed got my money’s worth from Apple TV+ though. Best investment I’ve made on a streaming service at $50/year.

You sound more sour for being a 30s single male than wasting $42 for Disney+ 🤣

I never thought Apple Plus would be a hit, and neither did Apple which is why they give it away right now. The fact remains I can watch those Disney exclusive movies you just listed on Apples service before they appear on Disney’s, but I can’t watch Apples on Disney ever.

Plenty here at Macrumors thought Apple TV+ would be a hit because they'd argue it was Apple with their near limitless cash supply.

You won't be able to watch all of Disney's content (especially the behind the scenes) on iTunes. However, Disney likely also doesn't want to stop selling their content on Apple/Google/etc as those are other distribution channels. Since Apple's content is only watchable on Apple, that spouts some of their challenges that they need to address and solve. Many of the other "competing" services are targeting to be ubiquitous, so you don't even have to worry about where you are or what device is available to you.

I could see a future where Apple does in fact decide to become a pure studio and also license "their" content out to the HBOMaxx/ViacomCBS/Disney/etc services. It really depends how committed they are to this path they are going and if they can create stickiness with pop culture.
