I enjoy a good spy thriller and may check this out. I want to plug Ted Lasso, as it's the best thing on Apple TV+ and exactly the kind of fun show I need in 2020.

Loving Ted Lasso.

This looks decent, will give it a shot. Never watched Homeland, but am I correct that it is very similar to 24? (Which I loved)

I have thoroughly enjoyed Apple TV+ and am actually a paying subscriber at this point. I don’t binge watch TV so Netflix does not interest in me in the least. But, Apple TV+ has some quality content, clearly higher in quality than most of the garbage on Netflix. I like where Apple is going with this. Hope they keep it up. I’m sure the pandemic has put a little bit of a dent in their plans as well.

I thought it was a new series named "Tehra".

My wife and I are watching the Ted Lasso episodes a second time, until another fresh episode drops.. They're that good!

By and large, Apple produces series that ar often worth watching. I also have Netflix and I esp. like the foreign language shows like Dark there - many of the English language shows on it are formulaic.
I don't mind Apple having fewer but generally good quality shows. I found Defending Jacob, Mythic Quest, Morning Show and Ted Lasso (so far) better than any current Netflix show.
Trying, For All Mankind and Dickinson were also good.
I have not yet seen the other shows. Frankly we don't watch that much. I could be tempted to drop Netflix instead of Apple TV were it not for NF's wide range of kid material. My toddler twins are allowed to watch a bit of Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol every day, and I like that unlike youtube we can see it on Netflix without ads.

I don't think the consumers are seeing the big picture here, Apple is playing the long game with their $2T worth. They don't want you to subscribe NOW thats why they are giving a FULL YEAR of free service instead of a 3-month trial. Apple is slowly building an exclusive backlog. In just 1 year they made like 10 series, you can imagine how it will be in the next 5 years.

Netflix will be crying with their measly $250B market cap. unless Disney or Google picks them up or something.

I just finished Showtime's 8th Season of Homeland. It's based off an Israeli show called Hatufim (Prisoners of War). Nice to see foreign shows come direct to the US instead of being 'Americanized' for television. Since Homeland is over this show could fill the 'spy thriller' gap it left behind.

How is it no Americanized? you just said its based on the show, not the show itself?!

Can you name them?

I watched at least half of the Apple TV+ original series (non-documentary) and I have yet to encounter any with overt racial or social justice commentaries.

I'd go further than that. In The Banker, the story is based on the problems that the Black characters had, and yet the movie doesn't really show how fricking deep the problem went! They barely mention (not even show!) the segregated drinking fountains in a side comment.
If I hadn't learnt about that kind of thing elsewhere, I wouldn't have even understood it. So I'd say that it's still treading pretty lightly on the whole subject, even if it's in the middle of it.

So those complaining about SJWism sound pretty interesting to me.
