Hey guys, apple made an error in my headphone replacement. Apparently they shipped the in-ear headphones instead of the regular ones that come with my phone. They were sending some out for my apple care replacement on my 3G headphones. Should I let them know or act dumb about it.

It still might be the correct item when you get it. wait and see. its up to you..

I'd email them and let them know. They might just say keep them. =)

Keep them. Don't listen to anybody says "You're in the wrong" or "You're immoral/a horrible person". Apple is a multi-billion dollar industry with multi-millionaire CEOs and investors and high-level employees. You're a working class man (I presume).

Gee, who do I have more sympathy for??? That's a tough call. *Sarcasm*

You're just not correcting their mistake, that's all. :) Don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

So you're saying it would be okay to steel from the rich if you are not as rich?

No sidewinder, he's not saying that.

If a multi-BILLION dollar company (1.67 billion just for Q4 to be exact), cannot ship the right item, then so be it. If you call; they'll let you keep it. If you keep it; obviously you keep it. So at this point, his options are to either keep them or waste time and get the same result and feel all 'morally correct' on the inside.

Who knows, maybe they're sending you the in-ears because the stock ones are so ******, or the fact that they are replacing them and it's just an added bonus.

I wasn't debating whether or not the OP should keep the headphones. I was questioning the morals behind XciteMe's logic. He didn't qualify his position like you did.....

There are some who pay for music and videos and there are some who dont. lets just not get into this.. Like i said op its your call. Nothing bad will happen if you dont correct the problem.

Do you think this multi-billion dollar industry is gonna feel any sympathy for him when they realize their mistake and charge him for the difference?

I don't.

I'm not taking anybody's side here. I just think you should avoid any issues by calling. Better safe than sorry.

Wow this got out of hand, and quickly. Who cares if it's a multi-billion dollar company or a multi-dollar company? Either it's right or it's wrong. I really doubt anyone is going to come knocking at your door, but my advice from above still stands.

they probably assumed that your original warranty claim was in error because, honestly, who in his right mind would ever request a second pair of those awful earphones?

No I'm not advising working class people "steel" from the rich. The rich need their steel too, just as much as we do. They need their steel high rise buildings and their stainless steel kitchen appliances and their steel bridges to drive to their steel buildings to do their work.

But I am saying, a multi BILLION dollar company screwed up a simple order and the guy shouldn't have to feel compelled to alert them or send it back. They didn't get the order right - OOPS!!!!!!!!!

lulz.

LOL! Fantastic response!

The overall level of humor here is pretty darn pathetic if you make a joke over a slight misspelling and actually think it is funny. I could dissect XciteMe's posts and uncover dozens of grammatical and punctuation errors and probably a bunch of spelling errors too.

Basically, all he is doing is trying to cover his poor morals with an attempt at humor at the expense of someone else.

If Apple sends me more expensive headphones and I think it is a mistake, I will let them know. I bet Apple would tell me to keep them. If they don't, I have no problem sending them back at their expense. If they let me keep them, great. Either way, I have done the right thing.

It doesn't matter if it is a "Mom and Pop" shop or big bad Apple. It doesn't matter if it is a $10 item or a $500 item. You do the right thing.

Okay, Mother Theresa. Just curious, should I also throw away all the porn I have stashed on my computer? And I also occasionally do drugs, in addition to getting drunk. Am I going to Hell?

Just let them know, and let them know that you really enjoy their product and have been a loyal fan for a while

chances are they'll let you keep them

worst case scenario they'll ship you a replacement set with a prepaid box to ship back the wrong headset ( standard procedure)

So you will at least break even and also take the higher moral road:apple:

No, what's pathetic is the amount of people here who jump up on their high horses and preach their morals from the sky. Give me a break. This guy tried to insert humor into this beaten, and ridiculous debate over a pair of headphones. The amount of ACTUAL people who would do the "right" thing is very, VERY slim, but a public form gives those jealous few, who secretly WISH it was they who got a lucky break, can make themselves feel better by trying to show off what a "good person" they really are. THAT is what's pathetic.

You're just upset because it was you who made the error. Your error wasn't funny, the ice breaker of the reply was.
