For those who have not done this before, my phone traveled all the way to Kentucky before Apple updated the status to "Shipped" on the website and sent the shipped email. It was moving for 3 days prior from China to Alaska to Kentucky... in years past, some users have mentioned that their status did not update to shipped until the day they received the phone.
So I would not put too much stock into the shipped email as a real indicator of shipping status. Check your support profile for the serial number and track via UPS, etc. those are systems tied more closely to actual events.
