Sheer insanity

As an Apple fan and someone who can't wait for the 3G, this new Forbes article has to excite....

Yep. Something wicked (and ingenious) this way comes. And I'll be damned if there isn't more interest and anticipation for this updated version than there was for the 1st gen phone. But I still cannot comprehend how Apple does it. There are countless numbers of people -- ranging from the factory workers who are assembling the phone to employees within the company itself -- who've seen it, touched it (no pun intended), masturbatorially fondled it and yet nobody, I mean NOBODY, has stepped forward with a leaked photo or feature details or nothing. It's simply amazing when you think about it. How the f@$& does he do it?!!! Is he and the company paying people shush money?

I'm still trying to strategize how I'm going to be able to get it on launch day...without, that is, doing anything radical or denying myself the most basic of human needs (like eating, sleeping, taking a dump etc etc) by standing in a store line like an idiot a freakin' week before it releases.

I think it's gonna be unavoidable though. How are y'all gonna insure you get one on launch day??

Newton.. Maybe not a Blunder as it was just ahead of its time...
Nah.

Gary Trudeau ...

... is the guy that killed the Newton.
Bastard!

Notice he is using a paper organiser with a pen! that shows you where his true allegiance lies.

And he claimed at the time to be a Mac supporter.

I'm in the film biz, and I can tell you it certainly doesn't look like a commercial setup to me. I'm going to guess some feature film is shooting there. One of the pictures had a Panavision truck in it--that's just not going to be in the budget for any commercial (it also suggests film instead of video, almost no commercials are shot on film anymore, although there are a few). Plus the way they're lighting the entire building, just doesn't look like a commercial.

hope u guys dont hate me after this, but i TOTALLY AGREE....ALWAYS BEEN AN APPLE FAN AND ALWAYS WILL BE*

*if it becomes to common and every 2nd person has an apple, then i'll just be freakin pissed off, i hate having 'common' stuff.

So you have a Zune then, and not an iPod? ;)

Just a thought...

If we stick with how we usually go by clues in Apple's posters released prior to events, I would speculate that the bridge might actually represent connection even though far away  ? I thought the video chat might be true and now I'm almost positive.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this earlier, if so I apologize for any redundancy, but I think the bridges point to the convergence of the two platforms, Mac OSX and OSX Mobile. The bridges each begin from distant points and are then connected at the single converging point. I think its hinting at the new improved .Mac. Think about it, no matter where you are or what device you have .Mac or Mobile Me can sync all data, and I don't just mean contacts and calendar, but movies, podcasts, music, photos, etc... Your own go anywhere access to your personal iTunes Online.

I've been following this story and thread like since it's started. It's like reading a book with a bookmark that keeps moving forward on its own and have no definite amount if pages. Anyways, for the bridges. I'm agreeing with the seperate bridges representing the two platforms. Mac OSX Touch and Mac OSX. Otherwise, known as the iPhone and the Mac. :apple:

Yeah guess your right, I'm just dreamin' ova here. ;)

This Just In !!!

Two new Apple products to be announced on June 9, 2008 at WWDC.

The "iWantItAll" and "iWantItNow" will be available immediately after the Keynote. :D

Haha, yes yes I got it. Two platforms. La di da . . As long as I get a hot iphone packed with all the amazing features we have all speculated about, incredibly thin, mini macbook pro and MY TABLET.

Yea, but this is costing more than that.

This is project cost + store being shut down. Who knows, 100k could be put into this thing said and done.

You missed my point. The person I replied to was talking about the expenses people pay for a conference video. I know this costs more than that. My point was that people make conference videos where the graphics budget alone is in the tens of thousands. When the graphics budget on a conference video (where the majority of the video cost is in the shooting) is in the tens of thousands the video is usually over 100k. This production probably cost a lot more than that.

I don't see how this could be for an ad thats airs on the 9th, they could not possibly complete post work in a weeks time. It usually takes at least a month for editorial, color, sound, etc.

It would be great if I were wrong.

That's a slow team, then. If it doesn't need a lot of graphics work, it should be finished within a week. A :30 spot is usually cut in a day or two.

By the way, my day or two quote for a :30 spot includes animation.

We do the SWAT challenge at the studio where I work. I did the graphics for the interstitials and the new map and retagged the end with the new logo in two days and one of our editors edited the 3 30 minute spots in about two weeks, if that.

Agreed. I just shot a nationwide 30 second spot last weekend. The final cut, including animation and editing is to go out on Monday. Production can happen a lot faster than people realize.

Most people forget we are living in a digital age now. Production and post-production happen much faster these days ... slowed mostly by human indecision.

It could be the Genesis, which I believe has shot commercials. Also, we shot a short film on a hugely low budget by calling in some favors, and using excess film from past shoots. We shot around 10,000 feet. And we used Panavision equipment. Speaking of Panavision equipment, I wish I owned one of those lenses. That was the smoothest focusing lens I've ever used.

Come to think of it, I think we used a Genesis on one of our commercial shoots a few weeks ago.

Here are some pictures from day one of that shoot—it was a three day shoot. I'm not in this section of pictures.

Your kidding right? I work for a production company here in LA and we shoot film for ALL our commercials. Commercials often have highly inflated budgets for their spot that films WISH they had for that amount of work.

Just because it is Panavision doesn't mean it is film, I have shot on at Panavison with a Pananvised F900, which is really just the cinealta with their lens kit. I am sure they have 950s now and Vipers.

Heck out studio is helping a USC student who used a Viper for live shots and film for miniatures. If a student can afford film and 2K scanning I think Apple sure can.

A bunch of "leaked" images have come about, and there have been loads of "insiders" and "sources close to Apple" claiming this and that. It just depends how much truth you place on those claims. But no one is going to be like, "Hey, I work at Apple and here's what I saw!" Not only would they be fired, I'm sure there'd be legal repercussions as well.

A "landmark" event?

A "landmark" event - perhaps this is the sign of GPS, amongst other features, being introduced to the iPhone platform..

Hmm, instead of a commercial, this could be a promo video to be shown at the iPhone 2 press conference/WWDC presentation.

I have heard some news about how this shoot connects with the Los Angeles shoot and it will be one commerical

So I have 2 different guesses about this:

1. It has to do with GPS and being in different locations

2. Or to show how you can talk cross country(/and or around the world) on iChat

(or possibly even both #'s 1&2)
