yes yes yes

and maybe just maybe a Beatles iPod. (Only a dream)

I could totally see an iPod commercial of the Beatles, even better than the coldplay one they have out now. And to top that off, what if they decked out the 5th ave store with just loads of beatles monuments and limited edition goodness.

I might take a 0.3 mile walk to take a sneak peak:) I'll post the pictures if I see the 3G hotness:)

Hey, before you go whip yourself up a nice photo shopped badge and act like you are supposed to be there. Walk right in. :D

Are there any other 24hr stores in the US? If so are they closing to?

5th Ave. in NYC is the only 24hr one....so far. I could see another one popping up in a busy city that never gets empty at night like LA or Las Vegas.

I think it would cost them less in lost sales for only a few hours of daylight from 3PM, most sales are done mostly around mid-day anyway(me thinks, not knows), lol

Lost sales are the least of it. Do you know what it costs to hire a medium size film crew. I don't know how many people and what equipment they have but $40K/hour is not unreasonable

You have to figure they have actors and makeup people and camera operaors and lighting and sound guys and asistants for all of those and security people and truck driver. None of those people bill at $12 per hour, they are all at $100 or

And I doubt Apple really looses many sales. People come back, or go to another store or buy on-line. Not many will switch to a Dell just because this store was closed.

i think its going to be something no one knows about. why else would they shoot it in their own place, to keep it hush. every other commercial they offer is white background or so with just a hand. this ISNT an iPhone shoot.

I believe your guess is certainly possible, but that it's more reasonable to guess it's an iPhone commercial. First off, reports have said people are concentrating on the iPhone tables down there. Second, the macs in the store are showing only the Aura background. NO icons, NO dock, and NO menu bar. What they're filming is definitely not concentrating on Macs. Plus, it wouldn't take much for Apple to buy a black (or green, for keying in a color) background, a few lights, and a camera. It's a drop in the bucket considering how much the company is making these days. Remember, too, that the iPhone commercials around city scenes were the first in a considerable time (if not first time ever) to be filmed out of a studio for Apple. Not only that, but we don't know final details of the 3G iPhone. We don't know if it's going to have a plastic back. We don't know that it will have video conferencing. We don't know what the heck is definitely changing other than new software and very probably 3G wireless. That's it. So there are certainly a lot of iPhone unknowns Apple doesn't want confirmed which could have been seen tonight.
