Would you prefer Apple label Siri/Apple Intelligence as “Coming Soon” for AI features, and keep Siri

As a long-time Apple user, I’m pretty disappointed with Siri. I asked if it would rain this week, and it kept answering about today, even after I clarified. That’s not a one-off issue either; it feels like it struggles with even slightly more simple requests.

At this point, it’s less about which AI model Apple uses and more about the overall experience just not being good enough. I’d honestly rather Apple disable the current “AI-style” responses and stick to simple, reliable commands like “Dial Mum” or “Turn volume down” until they can deliver something that actually works.

Curious if others feel the same.

I asked it what the Cavalier’s colors are, and it gave me the current game score.
Better than my response.

"Apple should rethink Siri’s current “AI” experience"

They are doiing just that. We'll see if the rethink was successful when iOS 27 appears.
I had meant for the time being, rather than keep delivering half assed responses. We could just have basic features and all the “AI” temporarily disabled.

Just say, “hey siri ask ChatGPT if it will rain this week”. I guarantee you the answers will be better.

At this point, Siri/Apple Intelligence isn't about the user experience at all. And for once, it's not about profit either. Rather, Apple, like every other tech company that doesn't have their own LLM, has been suffering from a serious case of FOMO ever since ChatGPT came out.

Deep down, the people at Apple working on these features know what we think. However, their bosses demand they implement AI, so they have to keep sprinkling these useless features all over the place if they want to keep their jobs and hopefully get promoted.

Apple isn't going to change anything in iOS 26. It's just bug fixes now.
You are only two months away from iOS 27 beta. That's where the changes will be.
Whether Gemini Siri is labeled as a beta or not remains to be seen. All AI should be labeled with a warning that it is sometimes wrong, IMHO.
Apple already scrapped their first internal alpha of the new Siri last year and said during WWDC interviews that they had a second attempt working internally that was coming along nicely. Now that has been scrapped to in favor of Gemini. We don't know if the third attempt just started in February when the deal closed or if they have been working on it longer. We also don't know if they are happy with the quality of the output yet. We may only get a fraction of the promised/expected Siri this year and will still be waiting for awhile, in which case a beta tag seems appropriate.

I think you misinterpreted the purpose of this thread, I was basically saying rather than getting caught up in whether they will use OpenAI or Gemini etc, should they just remove it from the OS and only allow for simple Siri requests that don’t require AI since you can see from the examples above it can’t even answer basic things which I know for a fact Siri would have been able to answer before they ever dabbled into the AI scene.

Does it help to mention that I have 14 pro and no AI soup for me! I get Siri basic.

I am on 17 Pro Max with 26.4 and still get garbage results.
What are some queries you’re getting unexpected results for?
I don’t use Siri like it’s a know-it-all but the handful of times I tried I did get expected results on my 17P.
My 13P on the other hand sucked when I used it in the past.

Me: “Will there be any hot days next week?”

Apple Intelligence: “Looks like there will be rain and cloudy skies next week” and then gives me a dump of the forecast for the week.
