Should we return those nostalgic First Time boots?

I think Apple should return those nice "Welcome" animations the first time you boot up your Mac/after installing Mavericks (Just like it did in versions before Snow Leopard).

Anyone agree to return such nostalgia?

----------

Also, a good song to use is Royskopp - Happy Up Here (Apple did use one song from that artist. But, how about another?)...

Sure, so long as you can skip it. I don't mind watching it once or twice but it can get annoying when you're doing installs in bulk :)

What difference would it make? It would probably take space and I don't want that on my SSD. Sure it can't be much but a video that I'd see once or twice? Why?

Also, there's a thread about this already. Precisely in Maverick's sub-forum.

Its not a video, its an animation ;)

I liked the welcome screen, it was always a nice touch!

Anyway, I want my computer to work and that's it. The animation is nothing more but a nice touch.. it's useless and I understand why it was removed. It's like missing Windows' startup sound.

They should do it in iOS too. Most people I talked to have no idea about iOS 7 big features.

A waste of code and space. If people really want a startup video, Apple can link a YouTube video. That way, you could eve like it....oh dear see where this is going?

They can always compress the video to make it more compact...

Also, I can't even find such a thread like this.

LOL noob. You can't simply just embed a YT video. That would be lazy...

Also, they could always compress the animation or auto delete it after watching it...

Also, I'm very impressed in the amount of votes to approve this idea.

Skipping would be ok, but it's not a recommended idea.

Also, it must only play once and then it deletes itself.

I miss it (now I have the tune playing in my head).

It was a cheerful reminder of using a fresh install or new Mac, like opening presents Christmas morning. 10.7+ became so, flat. So much grey, it almost feels "Orwellian".

iOS 6 also felt grey...

Someone please Email Apple about this idea!!!

(Also, iPhone 5C is a reference to those iMacs back in '99)

I say, bring it back! But do offer an option to skip it; that way, IT folks can be happy when doing bulk installations. I can see why some people would be annoyed by the video, but personally, I thought it was classy and added character to Mac OS X.

I also like the idea of the video being automatically deleted after first boot to save space, but what about those of us who want to save the video?

Then you go to YouTube and watch it again.

They were nice, but got annoying when you regularly reinstalled OS X. I'm indifferent since they don't actually add anything to the OS.

I agree that the introduction video is quite a key feature of the OS X installer, creating an unforgettable and 'magical' experience for the first-time user. And should return for major updates/rebrandings to OS X (as Mavericks is).

Also, it must only play once and then it deletes itself.

It should just be on the installation disk [image] and play when installation is completed.

The amount of votes to approve seems to be quite fascinating!

This must be confirmed at once!
