Oh, God, PLEASE PLEASE YES. I missed these so much. They were whimsical and captured the spirit of Mac perfectly. They were such a contrast to the staid boots of Windows and the obscure and verbose alien boots of Linux (at the time, there were no bootscreens).
For a new Mac User it is something that makes a pleasant first impression and relieves fear of the unknown when switching to a new platform.
That and the Migration Assistant made my switch to Mac 5 years ago something that I still find as marketing brilliance. They are very keyed in on cultivating customer loyalty and immersion in their ecosystem.
Both good reasons Apple should put the first boot video back in. I wonder why it was removed in the first place?
Save space on the download since everything is moving off of physical media and onto digital.
It's pure stupidity, though; a 20MB video is like pennies in an age of four-figure purchasing prices.
All the welcome animations are very much a QuickTime video file though. Its not a video, its an animation 😉
*facepalm* I already said they "can compress the video in some way".
Sure, so long as you can skip it. I don't mind watching it once or twice but it can get annoying when you're doing installs in bulk 🙂
All the welcome animations are very much a QuickTime video file though.
~95 votes!
WE ARE GETTING THERE!
He thinks that, by sending the link to this thread to Apple and because there are 100 votes, Apple will bring back the super duper amazingly useful animation intro. Was that you're motivation, to get 100 votes? Why? Also I noticed that you were shooting down some of the posts that were against the first time start up video. What's the point of your poll if all you wanted were responses in your favor? Getting 100 votes is not going to bring back the videos. I thought the point of a poll was just to get everyone's feedback, not just to go along with the OP right? 😕
I would love for the welcome video to return. I still have fond memories of when I purchased my first mac and watched the video before the setup. Everyone who is complaining that such a video would take up space, it would be easy for Apple to include an auto delete function which would eliminate such an issue after watching it (as has been mentioned on this thread). Unfortunately I have some doubt we will see this come back unfortunately.
Is there any way to submit ideas to Apple?
Apple or any of its employees do not accept or consider unsolicited ideas, including ideas for new advertising campaigns, new promotions, new or improved products or technologies, product enhancements, processes, materials, marketing plans or new product names. Please do not submit any unsolicited ideas, original creative artwork, suggestions or other works (submissions) in any form to Apple or any of its employees.
So, there's NO WAY TO SUBMIT IT?!?According to Apple's Unsolicited Idea Submission Policy:
Apple or any of its employees do not accept or consider unsolicited ideas, including ideas for new advertising campaigns, new promotions, new or improved products or technologies, product enhancements, processes, materials, marketing plans or new product names. Please do not submit any unsolicited ideas, original creative artwork, suggestions or other works (submissions) in any form to Apple or any of its employees.
It goes on, and can be read here:

Product feedback can be submitted here, but I would not expect any results.

Darn
Does Tim Cook also have a public email where you can email him directly (i.e. like steve jobs had)? I guess that would be one way to contact apple.
