Apple yesterday released a new iPad commercial entitled "iPad is Amazing", airing the ad on primetime television and posting it to the company's iPad site and YouTube page to show off a number of new features available in iOS 4.2.

The new commercial offers the same soundtrack as several earlier ads and follows the same of theme of displaying a series of quick shots of the iPad's capabilities interspersed with corresponding single-word descriptions relevant to the "iPad is..." theme: "creating" (Pages), "printing" (AirPrint), "vital" (AirStrip), "ideas" (TED), "multi-tasking" (Mail and Calendar), "facts" (Solar Walk), "figures" (Numbers), and "amazing" (AirPlay).

In mid-May, Apple released its "What is iPad" commercial, harkening back to an earlier ad for the Newton nearly twenty years ago. Apple then shifted gears, however, releasing the current string of iPads with "iPad is Delicious" in mid-August, "iPad is Musical" in early September, and "iPad is Electric" early last month.

iOS 4.2. is garbage really... it don't let me see the app ''videos'' on it, also moved some of my covers and it's crashing sometimes!

i don't want to back to 4.1. to get my videos back, i'm waiting for apple update to fix this soon... :(

Works great for me. Have you filed any bug reports with Apple?

4.2.1 has breathed new life into my iPad. Multitasking is soooo much more useful on the iPad than the iPhone for me. Also, the mail app really needed the single inbox. And folders have been really great to finally get my apps organized.

As far as the new features like AirPrint or AirPlay....

I try to avoid printing as much as possible, but AirPrint with Printopia direct PDF to Web Receipts folder will come in handy.

And AirPlay is likely going to be more useful for me once I upgrade my iPhone 3GS to a model with a camera that can replace our normal point-and-shoot Canon. I imagine AirPlay is best for iPhone-4 owners who want to show off their photos -- or for commuters who start a movie on a train and want to finish it at home. Right now AirPlay is just a cool feature for me that has not yet reached it potential (read: open it up to all apps).

The music is iconic at this point. Identifies the product all by itself. And you may have noticed - not a word is spoken to explain the product anymore. I guess it really does speak for itself. Brand new product defining a whole new product category, and not a word needs to be said explaining the thing. Now THAT is amazing.

The iPad is not yet capable to replace a computer or a laptop.
But oh how awesome it is as a coffee table machine to quickly look up things that are referenced on tv or do more research on things that interest me (bcs my brain moves faster than any content on tv) or to keep me occupied during ads while there is nothing else interesting enough to watch on other channels. I do have an iPhone but it just doesn't cut it. It's too small.
In this case... the iPad is amazing.

This is good. Apple is addressing current market myths about its product:

Doesn't do multitasking -- Yes, it does.

Doesn't print -- Yes, it does (and will do a lot more soon)

Not for creating -- Yes, for creating.

etc.

We know this, but for the average person who only heard about earlier version of iOS, or who hears the lies about Apple and thinks they are true, this type of ad can directly address those misconceptions.

And for me, 4.2 is great on my iPad. Really enjoying it even more than ever now.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

Yay!!! IPad !!! So magical!

What song is thAt btw?

That piano is on fire

I don't really like this ad campaign, and I know why. The parts of speech vary and it just rubs me the wrong way. I know it probably gets the attention they want, but since I do a lot of editing it makes we want to give them a bad grade for grammar. Yeah, I know, I should simply think different.

I'm still waiting for apple to bring back the "get a Mac" commercials. Those were always my favorites. The new iPad campaign does nothing for me.

Oh my...that was frickin' amaz...........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........

Nice commercial, but should they really be advertising AirPrint when it only is half working?

At the end of that advert, it looks like they are saying the iPad is streaming the movie Toy Story 3 from the iPad to the Apple TV.

It does not do this does it?

If it needs a iMac or PC running iTunes to make it play that should of been shown in the advert also.
