At the end of that advert, it looks like they are saying the iPad is streaming the movie Toy Story 3 from the iPad to the Apple TV.

It does not do this does it?

If it needs a iMac or PC running iTunes to make it play that should of been shown in the advert also.

Um, yes it does. Isn't that the whole point of Airplay?

Fixed it for you.

No one cares how it's done, normal people care only that it works. Another bad day for geeks. Sorry.

This is good. Apple is addressing current market myths about its product:

Doesn't do multitasking -- Yes, it does.

Doesn't print -- Yes, it does (and will do a lot more soon)

Not for creating -- Yes, for creating.

etc.

We know this, but for the average person who only heard about earlier version of iOS, or who hears the lies about Apple and thinks they are true, this type of ad can directly address those misconceptions.

And for me, 4.2 is great on my iPad. Really enjoying it even more than ever now.

Can you describe you experience so far with iOS 4.2? But honestly. Thanks.

Buy Toy Story 3 on my iPad with iTunes. Stream to my AppleTV via AirPlay. Yup, it does all that, without my Mac/PC.

Ah that's ok then.

So any video held on the iPad can be streamed to a large screen TV ?

Yes. I tried multiple movies except an old itunes HD movie I bought called "Terminator 2" that won't stream for some reason. It probably has some weird encoding spec preventing it from working. That movie must have been encoded wrong.

Me, my kids and my wife are really enjoying our iPad. And even more after upgrading to iOS4.2. This commercial captures the iPad feeling really fine.

Fixed it for you. I don't care whats down the road I care about whats now.

Leave your prejudice out of this. It does do multitasking and printing, just not enough to satisfy your needs, but plenty for other's needs.

As for creating, of course you can create on it. There's lots of things you can create on it, and people are doing just that.

I've put all my apps into folders and very much reorganized my iPad. Love it.

My email in-boxes are unified, and that's how I view my email now. Love it.

I send videos to my Apple TV from my iPad, and it's amazingly easy. Love it.

Prejudice? I have an iPad sitting right next to me. I think I am pretty versed in it.

BTW: Casper Suite 8 was just released today. Full enterprise iPad support!

"Amazing"

What is great about this whole thing for me is that my toddler, every time he sees my iPad, says "Its amazing iPad!" and then tries to steal it from me.

Last week or so I caught him on voice memos saying this, and ended up emailing it to Jobs figuring it might make him smile. I never heard back, and I have no doubt that this ad was in production waaaaaaay longer than last week, but its a nice coincidence nonetheless.

Wow and it should make your comments better? No cares how multitasking is done. People only care about better batery life and that it works.

And stability?

And stability?

Um, it's always been stable for me, to be honest, and 4.2 seems solid. As with any iOS device, stability issues are more likely to come from apps installed. I've had some odd behavior from Newsrack (my RSS reader), but otherwise I've not noticed anything wrong.

I love what the update did to my iPad. I thought I would miss the screen lock button but i don't. This doesn't mean I like Apple's alternative either, I just don't use it. I find myself using any orientation I feel now. It's not as easily prone to switching unless I do it deliberately like the iphone. I'm just careful with how I use it.

The multitasking is great, I do a lot of writing on my iPad, would love a keyboard for it. Switching to the browser and then doing something else. I also love these adverts.

love the commercial and the ipad

but I hate the grammer!!

"ipad is multi-tasking"
"ipad is creating"

sounds just so lame to me

Undying Devotion to a brand doesn't always equal to un-biased reviews or opinions or experience or knowledge. Are you following me?

I follow you, but you are addressing the wrong person with that. And it does not negate my point about your post.

I think the AirPlay bit at the end was really well done... I just wish it worked in other apps. 2011 should be a good year.

I knew they were trying to show off airplay at the end, but they took away the ipad too fast, and the "TV" looks too similar to the ipad, and the TV isn't showing long enough. I have a feeling most non-apple-fanboyz didn't get what they were showing at the end. It moved too fast to register with the average user.

when will I have this feature on Mac OS? I know, I can already share via itunes, but I would really like an airplay button in quicktime x and itunes. so 10.6.6?
