There was constant talk of them killing it due to a lack of updates. It was a complete rip off under his stewardship.

You and I seem to be remembering very different machines

I have, right now, in my house, an early 2005 G4, a 2006 (upgraded to a core 2 duo), a 2010, 2x2012s (server model, the quads, one runs my 3d printer today, serves it over the network), a 2018 (i5 hex with 64gb of ram, still being used as a fileserver and a host for a few test containers), an M1 (running Asahi), and an M4.

They’re all great machines, and they all are rock solid.

The only model I remember being a huge problem was the 2009 and its nvidia failures.

They werent ripoffs, under jobs or otherwise. You might not have been the target market for them, but that’s not the same thing

I absolutely am the target market and had the first one in 2005. It was barely usable due to lack of ram.

It had a max of 1gb compared to a max of 1.25gb on the iBook and 12” PB models available at the time… the 250mb difference in max ram did not make it unusable…

That's the point... the max ram. It only had 256MB. Most people just buy the default configurations from Apple and they made it exceptionally difficult to upgrade (unless you are a computer nerd with a putty knife). If you spend apple ram prices it always got high and a rip off. The experience using the default was terrible.
