Apple will never meet those prices for a 27" iMac as long as the 27" Studio Display starts at $1599...
2019 iMac 21.5" 4K Core i3 shares the same $1299 price point as a 2021 iMac 24" 4.5K M1.
2020 iMac 27" 5K Core i5 base model is $1799... so likely a base model 2023 iMac 27" 5K M2 will share that price too.
That Studio Display should only be $1199 or be turned into a Smart Display with built-in Apple TV 4K at its current price point. Its built-in iPhone chip can easily do Apple TV 4K.
Samsung and LG does it for some of their computer displays.
