I got a new battery in my 13 mini, now I can wait til Apple give us something smaller again - post Crook.
Thinking mainly on 'flip' or something like that, or give us a new mini.
Don't have to be every year.
Not everbody want these large phones - please Apple, give us a Jobs phone version again 🙏🏼

That's the current situation, I know. But maybe a miracle will happen in the next 3-4 years. 😉

The 15 Pro is 10% heavier than the 17e and has a much thicker camera bump, both things which I don't like either.
To be honest the 17e is pretty good, great battery 🔋 and can do Siri AI too!

I still have an almost brand-new iPhone mini at 100% battery, which should last me a few years. But yes, if I had to buy a new phone, the 17e would be a top candidate.

I don't know why or what they're trying to play but to me it seems like complete marketing nonsense, how the 'pro' version of whatever may come out before the 'basic' one.
It is then either not 'basic', it is stripped down of features/power and it feels completely different.
You just logically cannot have 'pro' version of something 'basic' which is not yet exists.
I don't know what is going on there, but what I believe is happening is that they do have both versions almost ready like they should, but then there was some production/design issue at the 'basic' which they can't solve by they September.
And if I were their boss I would just come out to the stage on September and told exactly that (or whatever story is behind this, but it certainly is). Truth matters, some strange marketing tricks just hurt.

I went 12 Mini, then 13 Mini and then the 15 Pro so just recommending from my experience as a small phone lover like yourself (still have all 3 in my collection). 17e is an excellent choice (4000 Mh battery), cheap, lightweight and can be used one handed.
Of course, the new premium models have to be part of the Christmas offers – after all, you make less profit on the ‘cheap’ entry-level models… because the production costs for standard and premium models are hardly any different. It’s much the same with cars. 😉
Go for it. I've already built my own local models to help with general queries and code debugging.
This means I don't have to pay for $$$ subscriptions to ChatGPT, etc.
But I did have to buy (relatively scarce) hardware to accomplish such.
So ya, vote with your wallet. But you're gonna be outnumbered if you think just actively avoiding AI is going to cause a dent.

This rumor comes makes the rounds every year on tech news sites, and it never makes sense. You really think John Ternus is going to get up on stage in March and say, "last September, we released the iPhone 18 Pro, and it's become the standard for smartphones. Well, this Spring, we're introducing: the iPhone 18. It's like the phone your friends already have, and have had for months, except it's not as good. Only $899."
Unless they plan to cut the price of the regular iPhone, it would be harder to market it after a delay, especially since the 17e (and soon the 18e) already exists as the "wait half a year to save a few hundred bucks" budget model. The current marketing model of "spend $899 for the latest phone, or spend $1099 for a better version of the latest phone, or wait six months for a budget model" works great. Delaying the regular iPhone six months would ruin it, especially since in another six months after that, the next generation comes out.

It doesn’t matter what the general public thinks. If it weren’t for the RAM Crisis as well as the iPhone Airs severe failures which delayed the phone for 6 months, the non pro iPhone 18 wouldn’t be in this position but Apple is in a unique position to have the Pro models ( and the Ultra too) to be revealed first and foremost, the 18e is a lucky phone to not be revealed by itself, its sisters the Non pro 18 and the Air 2 are there as well
yes the 17 lineup remains strong as
yes year on year upgrades are boring on iPhones except the E models. The 16e was very important for Apple to release being the first iDevice to have a C class designed Apple Modem ( the first and only thing that the E iPhones will beat the Pro lineup to get) and the 17e getting Ceramic Shield 2 with Anti Reflective Coating are what makes the

Oh yes delaying the regular iPhone 18 isn’t a good mark, especially since that ( alongside the Air 2) puts the 18e in an advantage since it doesn’t have to be revealed all by itself, it’s sister iPhone models can join it

Yes it is.
It may be more difficult because of the price increases if the carriers don’t subsidize it. But the ONLY reason so many people have new phones is because of 0 interest EIPs and trade in credits.
