Every single day lots of iPhone users switch to Android smartphones, as they look for the latest trend out there which in 2013 is going to be gorgeous 1080p (retina crushing) big real-estate 5" screens power-houses - just take a look at the new Sony Xperia Z for instance and the almost confirmed 5" next generation Galaxy S4.

After several years being a loyal iPhone user I've recently switched to a Samsung Note 2 and couldn't be happier with it - great flexible OS, stupendous screen and some real innovation (a la old-times Apple...) in there with the S-Pen feature.

Apple should stop ignoring the market trend and users thirst for big screen smartphones or it'll start to hurt bad their sales.
Apple already complied to the market new 7" tablet form factor trend and needs urgently to do the same in the smartphone market.

Just do it Apple!! :apple:

How am I suppose to believe this when Apple only just recently caught up w/the backlog of orders. Only a few weeks ago there was still a wait if you ordered online.

Give me a break...

I guess the Nexus 4 has stopped a lot of people going for iphone5. The backlog of them is over 8 weeks. You cant even pre order them anymore! Im glad I got mine in time :)

I don't like that taller screen, so I'm going to stick with my 4S till it eventually falls apart. Gonna have to be dragged kicking and screaming to that tall screen!

Plus as many other users pointed out - the OS is stale.

There's a backlog for the Nexus 4 because so far they've built less than 400k. The iPhone sold in the same period sold an estimated amount of 35-40 million.

I'm not surprised.

I usually try to judge these things based on anecdotal evidence, and from that perspective the iPhone 5 is a flop. Of course it depends on my location, place of work and a billion other factors, but in a modern busy city you see a lot of random people with their phones and occasionally you notice one.

I don't tend to see a lot of iPhone 5s around.

I notice the exact same thing. I see lots and lots of Samsung S3 and Galaxy Note, and a lot of iphone 4/4s. I don't think I have ever once seen an iPhone 5 in the wild. I'm being completely serious. Not even once. And I live in a major north american city.

Stock down 25 % in three months due to performances
Iphone 5 sales slowing down
IOS not so innovative anymore with stronger competition coming up even from Nokia
Apple TV so limited in its functions
Cheaper Iphone denial (Iphone 4 is a cheaper iPhone in fact and still in place)
Windows 8 laptop tablets hybrid vs nothing from Apple

Come on Apple bring us

MacPro in rack
MacTouch (macbook doubling as a tablet)
A new IOS with customisation
A more open and versatile iPad (cant do proper attachement on emails is a disgrace a this point, not mentioning the fact we cant use usb port as well from HD)
App store for Apple TV
Iphone with a bigger screen for the one that dont want to have an ipad mini
bring back the old Ipod nano as a watch slimmer with connectivity with IOS

In few words bring innovation back and keep up with competition !! otherwise it will be history repeating

Customizeable iOS? You dont understand Apples success at all do you?
This is exactly why Android is a worse system than IOS. Because of all the customization crap.

I dont want customization. I want it to "just work". It is an unwritten rule that with more customizations, comes more clutter.

And with more clutter, the less easy the UI becomes. And then you will lose all the simplicity and elegance Apple is known for.

I have a perfectly good iP4 and I'm out of contract w/ AT&T, but the iP5 really didn't do much for me... at least no where near enough to drop $299 and re-up my contract. I've been considering picking up a Google Nexus 4 ($199 w/ No Contract) to entertain me until the next "must have" iPhone (I actually like Jelly Bean on my Nexus7).

I have a nexus 4, there's not really you can ask more from a smartphone. Battery life is a bit poor though.

This is just some a**hole saying this so stock price dips and then he/she can buy a bunch. Stop with the stupid rumors because it's hurting my savings! LOL

I tend to agree with you - I've had every iPhone up to the 4s, but the 5 just doesn't interest me at all

Going to LTE was a huge difference for me, especially when streaming music. The fact that it's lighter/thinner helped, too! At this point, however, you may as well wait for the 5S.

What has Apple brought new to the table in the last 3 years? Mmmmmm? Nothing? Nothing new only refreshes and at that pretty lack luster except their ridiculous obsession with geting it thiner! I cant use my Iphone 4s unless its in a case as its so thin its not nice to hold.

Apple wake up and smell the coffee, we need bigger screens, better design and cheaper phones. Mac pros that ARE fast and not 3 years out of date, and MacBook Pros that have 17'' screens and are affordable.

I love you Apple but you are becoming a bit of a has been joke if you dont change your ways soon.

That's not really a rule is it. I think you're looking for another word there.

You can't customise Windows phones that much. AFAIK there's no option to change your notification tones. It's kind of awful like that, but we're in an age full of user generated content and where customisable interfaces don't include clutter. Android isn't the best example of this, but the iOS mods that change the interface do it very elegantly. Hackers are doing a stand up job on the iPhone (but I'm not jailbreaking mine).

This doesn't necessarily indicate strong demand though, it could well just have been poor supply. It sounds like there were quite a few issues with the production of iPhone 5 relating to scratches in the case etc.

The constant waves of entitlement on these forums are flabbergasting.

I just saw a new report of worldwide smartphone manufacturer market share:

By units:
27% - Samsung
19% - Other China OEMS
18% - Apple
11% - Tier 1 China OEMS
5% - Nokia
4% - Sony
4% - RIM
4% - HTC
3% - LG
3% - Motorola

By revenue:
36% - Apple
27% - Samsung
10% - Other China OEMS
6% - Tier 1 China OEMS
4% - HTC
3% - Nokia
3% - LG
3% - Motorola
3% - Sony

Apple's ASP is $618 while the industry average is $311.

There was no listing for profit in this particular report... but we know it's ridiculously high. Didn't Phil Schiller say they have 75% of industry profits?

I guess we'll find out next week if Apple sold a record amount of iPhones. If they beat the 37 million iPhone 4S numbers from this same quarter a year ago... we'll know the "weak demand" report is silly.

I don't think Apple is in any sort of danger though.

But LG fanboys must be crying right about now...

But its sold really well in its initial release?

I'm not worried about it... I think Apple will be just fine.

The worst thing that happens out of this is Apple realizes its time to step up their game and try to improve their product. I have no problem with the phone now or the O/S, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't work to try and better it.

When do we find out?

IMO the iPhone 5 was a boring update - larger screen, faster processor ( you'd expect this anyway ) and LTE support. No difference in software than 4s.

I look at 4s ( even 4 ) and I phone 5 - there isn't a compelling reason to upgrade - may as well wait until next iPhone.

Passbook is a bit pathetic - it's some clugy workaround due to lack of NFC.

iPhone 5 is great for new customers , upgraders - questionable.
