Apple Smart Home Display Still Coming This Year

2024. 2025. 2026. 2027… I always trust Gurman. He’s the best forecaster. 🤣

If it EVER comes out, I’ll buy if it has decent features.

Cook LOVES overlap. All his products are always missing some little key feature. Just enough to make you feel the pain to upgrade to a more expensive device. Jobs innovated. Cook was all about pettiness. M1 Mac Studio capable of 120hz, but stuck with HDMI 2.0 says it all. Even the Apple TV had 2.1. Death by pin pricks.

At what point is someone going to tell them to just stop with Siri. It's not working. Siri won't ever be as good as the others. Focus on something else.
 
A talking display would make huge money if the Siri character had lots of personality and can be configured

We’re ditching our smart doorbell due to incompatibility with a vintage chime. Picked up some POE cams from Aqara with HomeKit. Just need to find time to run the network cables.

Still interested in this home hub with screen device. Lots of our neighbors are getting those Skylight calendars. I’d prefer an Apple product instead. Will be interesting to see the features when it releases.

If the device was free, or even if they paid me, I would never put a "facial recognition camera" in my house

This conspiracy theory about Apple's new tech is always amusing, like any product in this category should last forever in the hands of cheapskates. There's already a reason I don't use my old iPads -- they're very old, and I had no reason to upgrade within the category. Finally, this could be the iPad-like device that streamlines Siri integration with HomePod and delivers everything the Home environment needs. I don't see how an old iPad without the right chips could do that through a mere app.
 
I just want an Echo Show 15 replacement so I can give Amazon the one-finger salute goodbye.

I’d like my calendar, photos, reminders, and no-ads visible in the kitchen. Bonus if I can watch TV on it with an IR/BT remote. iPad just doesn’t quite do that yet.

The same reason that the Siri app worked on an iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 until Apple bought it and made it an iPhone 4S exclusive feature.
