I have had my ASK since launch and I take good care of my stuff. I only use the ASK on clean, dry surfaces. However, the bottom of my ASK is starting to wear down. The finish is coming off and it’s feeling really rough. It’s only going to get worse. I can take a pic at some point and post, but I was curious if anyone else is experiencing this and is there any shot of Apple replacing the ASK due to this?

How long have you owned the keyboard? What I would do, is take pictures, if you have a local Apple Store, bring the keyboard with you, show Apple what you’re experiencing, and I’m sure they’ll be inclined to replace it _if_ it’s a defect that’s out of your control. But it’s definitely something they would have to inspect in person to make that decision moving forward.

If you got AppleCare on the device it might apply to the ask. I know it applied to the pencil in same purchase as I got my pencil replaced over a year in.

I've only had it since early January of this year. So I hate to see what it is going to look like in January of next year, at this rate. I'll have them take a look at it.

I was also curious if others are experiencing this issue....

Here is a picture of it. Anyone else experiencing this?

You shouldn’t have to skin the keyboard. That should not happen. I still have to take it into a store and see if they will replace it. I hope to do that this weekend.

What did you ever do on this. My iPad 11 Pro Apple Keyboard looks the exact same as yours. Also the A key is wearing off. This never happened to my other iPad Apple Keyboards. The Keyboard is not even a year old yet.

Nothing... yet. I am one of those weirdos who also purchased the 12.9.. with ASK. And have been using that one most of the time. So my 11 hasnt really worn down much more due to limited use. I am still thinking about just selling it, but I still plan on making an appointment with the genius bar before my warranty is up in a few months.

So, took mine in today to see if it would be replaced since it is only 8 months old and Apple claimed it was acceptable wear and tear. I said - really. So, a $200, 8 month old keyboard should be expected to have letters wearing off and the back of cover look worn too? I think it very pathetic support/policy....

This shouldn’t happen to such a young device. Did you speak to a store manager and what was the final outcome?

I did and they still said that it was normal wear and tear and would not replace it. I am meticulous with all my Apple devices. Just don't get it. How can Apple think a $200 keyboard with a worn out A and other wear think that is normal? If this starts to be the new Apple, then I will be out and I am fanboy.

I put an iStyles decal on the front and back of my folio. It looks really nice and will peel off easily if I need it to.

Your pictures look like you’re sliding the iPad around on a rough surface or it’s rubbing on something. This kind of wear doesn’t just spontaneously happen.

Apple finally agreed to replace mine. I have been using the Brydge Keyboard in the meantime and really like it, except for the weight it adds. Makes my iPad 11 Pro look like a mini Macbook Pro.
