Apple Sold Over 40 Million iPhone 13 Models During the Holiday Season, Says Wedbush Analyst

SOLD over 40M, or DELIVERED over 40M? During the holiday season, everywhere I looked they were OUT OF STOCK. I'm guessing gift givers were putting pictures of the iPhone in a box for under the tree.

There was also a global chip shortage. Perhaps, that’s why they were out of stock? I really wonder what was the most popular holiday item was?
Ordered my plain old 13 on December 7.
Still waiting.
And yes, took advantage of the ~$800 upgrade since I finally had to.
Very solid sales despite chips shortages and a continuing pandemic.
There’s always something that will changed this up down the line, tech’s a vicious cycle, hence why apple is expanding into other hardware and auto‘s, nothing lasts forever.

I'm in that 40M count! 🙂 Upgraded last week to an iPhone 13 from a (wait for it) iPhone 6s**, and I'm loving the new phone! The larger screen is easier on my old eyes, and the Face ID is spooky good, except when I'm at stores with a mask on!
** The 6s received an official Apple replacement battery a couple of years ago, which helped in squeezing additional life out of it.

A very impressive amount of iPhones!
Those profit margins much be really sweet! Now I'm not so sure the iPhone 14 will be just as sweet, if rumours are true to only giving hole-punch FaceID to only the Pro models. IF that's true then what's the point of regular iPhones if the SE will come along prior to then as well?!

I guess at the end of the holidays sold/delivered is the same thing on the balance sheet - as previously sold units now delivered means the revenue can be allocated as such.

Me too. I want there to be more small iPhones in the future, so I’m genuinely curious of the Mini’s outlook has improved worldwide now that restrictions have been reduced (and battery life improved).

The ecosystem is the glue, but no longer the reason alone. before that was the products' quality. Now and the last 2 years its about synergistic actions within the ecosystem. Samsung is slowly yet unabashedly following the ecosystem - even partnering with Microsoft to achieve it, but no synergy between actions within.
I think you're right ... until the Apple AR glasses and Apple Watch as a pair begin to replace it - say 4yrs and 4 iterations of each while the iPhone continues. The future looks extremely bright.

If you ever get the Apple Watch and enable watch+faceID to unlock you'll really find the unlock even more magical almost pre-cognitive.
I wasn't impressed with the 13 Pro Max over my 12 Pro Max. The A15, slightly better camera, and ProMotion wasn't enough to sway me to upgrade. I think this year's iPhone 14 Pro Max with the hole punch will sell like hotcakes!

Awessome, great tip! Thank you! I have a Apple Watch 3, and didn't know this functionality existed! 🙂 I'm holding out for the Apple Watch that'll have glucose monitoring, hopefully with Watch 8.

Demand for iPhones are always high. For the holiday season, iPhones are gifted and this would cause higher demands.
