I will still never understand the British propensity to spell all words that have "or" sounds at the end with "our". I.e. colour, etc. It's color dammit!! :D

'cos it isn't pronounced 'or', it's a softened 'er'. So the extra 'u' is not redundant. That said, pronunciations shift and with enough exposure to US dialects the general shift may well be to the harder US style 'color'. At which time the spelling may well follow suit.

Apple, please don't do this:

By the way, is that real carbon fiber on the Razr Maxx?

Not going to happen. Apple just released a phone that scratches before its out of the box. They only care about it looking great. You think they're really going to add some type of carbon fiber protective covering over their beautiful products? Absolutely not.

I'm English, as is the name of our (mostly) shared language.

The bloody Yanks bastardised it. We're just protecting the correct way of doing things. Things carry on like this and the colonies will end up conversing in txtspk. lol.

Carbon fiber is really a miracle metal. I absolutely love carbon fiber tripods for my photography and my mountain bike. So strong and so light - can't beat it.

I don't think carbon fiber contains metal in it. It's carbon and polymers, and polymers only have carbon and hydrogen I think. Those are not metals.

It would make it lighter.

carbon fiber iphone....

Carbon fibre - one of THE worst materials for a cell phone, guaranteeing cellular interference.

----------

CF would be great though — durable, strong, light, and it doesn't interfere with WiFi and cell signals.

And where exactly did you learn this? CF is one of the worst materials to incorporate onto a cellular phone, as the signal degradation is significant. Do a search for CF iPhone cases and read the reviews and comments.

Ugh, I actually hate the look (the checkered look) of carbon fiber. It looks so cheap and plastically, IMO.

Carbon-nanotubes on the other hand... :D

Edit: I think all carbon based materials may significantly reduce radio signals though?

iPhone 5S
128GB Storage
10+ Hour Battery
Scratch-free, shatter-free Carbon Fiber back.

APPL PLS.

Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastics most definitely are not shatter-free! It's a very strong material, but it's also a very brittle material. It shatters like glass. Have you ever seen a crash involving a Formula 1 car? CFRP shards everywhere.

"Nucular" is not. It's still Nuclear as it should be. Just because a certain former president and some select bubba types can't pronounce it correctly...."

And it appears some "bubba's " haven't been east of the East Coast, unaware, a few thousand km away, there lies a country whose language existed before "bubba's" did and was the foundation for "bubba's" language. I don't mean to fall out of favour with my fellow 'Mericans, but it's interesting to hear and read our mother tongue at times. People with a Brit accent always sound smart, even they're a level or two below the Artful Dodger in the schooling category.

could the carbon fibre be used for a small part of a product?

i.e. iphone back or body, keyboards keys to stop wear? i wished apple could make keys that would never wear, so i wouldnt need to use a keyboard cover to keep the condition as new.
