Apple Sports was updated today with a Home Screen widget, availability in more countries, and the ability to schedule Live Activities for upcoming events.

The widget lets you view scores and schedules for your favorite leagues and teams at a glance. While the app remains available on the iPhone only, the widget can also be accessed on an iPad and Mac logged in to the same Apple Account.

In addition, the app has been released in eight more countries in Europe, including Austria, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. It was previously only available in the U.S., the U.K., and Canada.

When you schedule Live Activities for upcoming events, they automatically appear on your Lock Screen when the event begins, so you do not miss any action.

Last, the app now supports Ligue 2, Segunda División, Serie B, Primeira Liga, and 2. Bundesliga.

Launched in February 2024, the Apple Sports app shows scores, stats, standings, upcoming games, and more for a variety of leagues.

Apple Sports version 3.3 is available now in the App Store.

Now I can watch with even more detail my South Carolina Gamecocks go from a dark horse SEC contender to, three games in, looking like every other year.

This is the most buggy app I use. It does not show how many timeouts are left or if we are in a timeout. It does not update reliably (sometimes the score on the game is stale but the score at top level updates).

I can go on and on.

Also would it hurt to just show clemson winning? 🥵

This app is very barebones and while I do use it it’s not friendly not intuitive.
I can understand not wanting to spend money to acquire something that won’t bring a lot of money back but why not just buy an already established app? Think about how many hours are spent busking designing testing and developing this sports app? The amount of money they could have just used to buy an app and call it a day.

why can I not get this one my Mac? Says the app isn't compatible with this device when I go to the App Store.

Still no Mac version ? As Invites, Classical, Fitness, Health, Wallet, Translate, etc... ?

I admire Apple’s consistency 👏🏻

this is a welcome update as there are very few sports apps that provide very basic score update widgets. the automatic live activity updates are way too overkill and obtrusive.

being able to just see scores at a glance when you want to from the home screen is much simpler.

remember to go into the my team settings and turn off the live activities if you prefer the widget only scores.

It’s interesting, based on those scores in the official screenshot, that is from September 2024. So either they’ve been sitting on this feature for a year, or they just pulled random scores.

“The widget lets you view scores and schedules for your favorite leagues and teams at a glance.”

It certainly does not. Going to have to add a lot of sports, a lot of leagues, and a lot of countries for that to be the case.

I love the live activities and use it on my phone. It works great for me. Once in a while it doesn't update right away but over all I really like it. Also, I would really like the ability to reorder the live activities on my phone to put a more important game (to me) on the top since they activities will stack until you tap them. Those are my only two complaints. It seems the widget would be useful on my iPad.

Man, there are some salty comments on here. On the whole, I'm OK with the app. The interface is a little awkward and could use some work but it follows the soccer and football teams that I like pretty well I think. Live updates, etc. work fine for me. The Carplay live update works for me (I kept up with the Western Carolina football loss this past weekend with it)...Any suggestions for another app that works as well with IOS? I know soccer lovers recommend Fotmob for all the soccer leagues around the world

I had the Raider game from last night show up in my Live Activities in CarPlay, which was a nice surprise. Too bad about the video airplay feature.
