Unrelated to the content of this article, but I despise those huge margins on the iPad Home Screen.

Can anyone confirm what triggers the widget to update.

Right now the times on the champions league matches are behind. I have to press the widget to open the app to then see the widget update.

Is the widget supposed to be live?

I love the live activities and use it on my phone. It works great for me. Once in a while it doesn't update right away but over all I really like it. Also, I would really like the ability to reorder the live activities on my phone to put a more important game (to me) on the top since they activities will stack until you tap them. Those are my only two complaints. It seems the widget would be useful on my iPa
i found them too much, blowing up your phone with every single score change and taking over the dynamic island etc. a simple widget that has the updates there when you want to check seems like a happier medium.

Dont have a live example yet, but close to live score updates in the widget are what I would expect too. If it can't do that then that is no bueno.

Good to see it in more countries. Expanding at a very slow pace. Not yet in my country and don’t think it will be arriving anytime soon.

Widget is very delayed in updating.
I tracked an MLB game and it seemed a little delayed but OK enough for widget. I'm not sure what the actual limitations are for widget refresh-rates, but there probably are some for battery reasons.

If you really want your phone blowing up with real-time updates, at least having the widget still makes it easy to tap right into the game where you can enable the live activities feature for that game if needed.

Why does the article show an ipad widget if the app is not optimized for ipad? I downloaded for ipad and it just shows an iphone app.

I swear before this update I was able to have the live activity on, but it didn’t vibrate my phone any time the score changed. Now I can’t get it back to the way it was. There doesn’t seem to be any setting to customize notifications anywhere— neither in the app nor in settings. Anybody know how I can get the constant notifications to stop?

No, there are no granular controls for live activities. It’s all or nothing. Thus, having a somewhat real-time widget with scores is your alternative vs. having your phone taken over with notifications and in your face score updates everywhere.

Live Activities are also not working reliably on Apple Watch.

When Apple Watch is AOD - live activity data becomes stuck/stale. It will only update when the wrist is raised.

The Live Activities are working fine for me on my Series 10 watch and my iP17Pro.
