Apple under Steve use to be an "under promise, over delivery" company. Now it has become "pretend it exists and gaslight your customers" sham. If those in power don't see this as a fundamental disaster then this is a true turning point for the company. Still waiting for that new AppleTV to drop nut at least we got a new inclusivity watch band.

You seem emotionally attached to this situation, and forget that Steve also delivered plenty of clunkers. Also, not sure why you are so bothered by the new watch band for black unity that you went out of your way to mention it, but it was definitely revelatory.

One does not enter the cow from the rear if they want to check on the brain in front.

Siri needs an "etch a sketch moment" where it is totally scrapped for a clean slate. That is the curse of Windows as there are probably still snippets of code from MS-DOS.

Apple has the money to start from a clean slate and make it right this time. Patching bad code is NEVER successful long term. BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT.

siri never lived up to her norse name of a beautiful woman who led us to any victory. more of a haggard crone looking for her broom.

last night she couldn't lead me to the local burger joint because she misunderstood everything i said. but she did understand when I told her that she was stupid. she replied, "that wasn't very nice."

Siri, R.I.P. let's meet your sister Gemmi.

I really wished it was Claudie though but I guess we're stuck with Google again.

I’ve read that is the case. They tried to merge the new with the old and decided to start over from scratch.

If the current boss really cared about the company, he would use the stash of cash to hire the very best programmers and software designers. Not sure we have even had the "D" programing team let alone an "A" team the last few years.

All of Apple's software really require complete re-writes to remove all the issues. Then test thoroughly before release. I am more than tired of being an "alpha" tester on what has been passed off as "release" software.

In a new report about Apple losing at least four more AI researchers in recent weeks, in addition to a high-ranking Siri executive, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reiterated that the company is preparing to release two new versions of Siri.
I wish them well in getting that software on par with the rest of the AI chatbots. They should first retire the name, now, create a new one. Send Siri to the AAA, Apple Assistants Anonymous … siriously!

Over ten years ago I had the iPhone 4S. I liked to use Siri to set alarms and timers and that was it. It worked without issues. It's now 2026 and I don't use either Android or iPadOS assistants at all. It's sad honestly. There has been no good incorporation into the OS in all that time.

I use ChatGPT daily to ask simple questions or get recipes for different foods. It feels very natural and it just knows what I mean 90% of the time. If it would feel like that using Siri I'd be astounded.

"Set an alarm this day in two weeks at 1430 and remind me that I need to pick up the furniture at 10 Cloverfield Lane...also remind me to call Howard beforehand, actually set an alarm clock for that day too at 1400"

Allow me to do that stuff with the AI comprehending that I'm talking about an adress, a friend and military time. And being able to seamlessly connect different apps.

Never thought I'd say this, but how about we just let Google handle it. I'm honestly not sure if Apple can ever catch up with Gemini and GPT.

Thing is, aside from the G5, Steve's clunkers existed (MobileMe), unlike the vaporware we've been given (or haven't).

Thanks for pointing out the circumstantial ad hominem. Noted.

"..and the four remaining have not yet finished surreptitiously downloading all their files before departing."

C'mon guys, splurge, get some NVMe SSDs

Employees who were just there for personal ambition or money are leaving, while those who truly believe in Apple are staying. Difficult times (whether for a person, an entity, or a country) have at least one silver lining: they separate the wheat from the chaff.

One of the clunkers that Steve delivered was Siri. Scott Forstall himself gave the keynote demo, and clearly it was oversold even then.

The biggest thing I want from Siri is improvements in car play. Apple Intelligence needs to be about more than a chatbot.
